Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2011/05/07 12:23 Mavke wrote:
Oops, indeed my mistake didn't set the right value and set 4200MHz before. Okay, so I made the change and now it should be correct.
Palit GeForce GTX 580 Fermi Twin Fan 850MHz Version
- Core : 850MHz (1700MHz Shaders)
- Memory : 4400MHz
- Voltages : 1.0505V - 1.1130V
- Max Voltage : 1.213V

Thank you again. We al make mistakes It wasnt stable running Uningine 2.5 with the voltage you set so I bumped the voltage up to 1.063 which helped but its still not stable. It was running stable running this overclock stable last night , but today it wont co operate. I can run the Uniingine benchmark once but it fails at the second run. I think I will try the EVGA bios and see if it makes any difference , because I see some people reporting its the best for overclocking. Ill do a bit more voltage tweaking and see where it brings me first.

Im just curious about the third voltage setting in nibitor that shows 1.005v - 1.063V? Why is that left unchanged?

By the way my GPU will do 900MHZ @ 1.138v but the fans are way too loud to keep it like that.

Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2011/05/07 15:15 My GPU doesnt like that EVGA bios. I tweaked it to

- Core : 850MHz (1700MHz Shaders)
- Memory : 4400MHz
- Voltages : 1.0755V - 1.1380V

but I am getting artifacting , but with those settinga and my default bios it it passes OC scanner and OCCT 30 minutes each with other benchmarks running flawlessly. Whats the newest GTX580 Bios? I would like to try it with my overclock settings.

[EDIT] Ive tried the newest bios I could find (70.20.00.81) and my GPU artifacts with that bios too. I will stick with my default bios.

Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2011/05/07 17:07 Okay, well I would suggest to use my first BIOS which has the memory at only 4200MHz and see if you get artifacts with that one. The reason being that most artifacts come from the memory being clocked too high. Can you try that and see what it gives? We could then see if we can bring it up to 4300MHz if no artifacts.

I must have pushed my card too much because even with the default bios that you tweaked its now artifacting when its overclocked. It was running perfectly before I flashed to a different bios.

Also the other bioses from EVGA Ive tried the fan never goes above 57% on my gpu , but the default bios ramps the fan up to above 80% when its needed.

[EDIT] Ok lowering the ram speed worked. Thanks for the advice. Ill leave it @ 4200.

Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2011/05/08 21:06 You are welcome, and some cards are less good in terms of the memory chips we have seen which means that you easy clock them too high and they will show artifacts. It is really a pitty cause these GeForce GTX 580's overclock quite well with just a little bump in voltage. Glad we could help.

Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2011/05/15 14:40 Mavke, could you do me a huge favour ??
Just had my EVGA gtx580 and i am having lots of fun overclocking with software.
however I am not to confident using nibitor with this card (fermi).
Just wondered if you would mod a bios for me please...
EVGA gtx580 (default card) rev3 bios.
Core 872
Shader 1744
Memory 1052 (2104)
Voltage 1.113V
Fan 40-100

Thanks in advance !!

Hehe, of course. I will get it done later today when I get home, yean in the weekend I am staying at my girlfriend quite often and don't take everything with me. But you can count on getting that done later today. And if you have questions on the usage of NiBiTor, just ask and I will try to explain as good as I can. Check back later today and your tweaked BIOS will be done.

Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2011/05/15 16:40 Thanks, I was fine with NiBitor and my gtx 275 but need to study fermi more, it looks a tad confusing !!

Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2011/05/15 20:16 Sorry but can you first attach your own original BIOS cause we have noticed that even the same version sometimes has some slightly differences and we want to be sure we tweak what is actually coming from your own graphics card. If you can attach your own original BIOS we will get it done, as I am home now.
