Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2011/02/27 16:24 Sorry for asking this without reading all the posts but I don't know if I can use the same BIOS as the other guys. I have an ASUS GeForce GTX 580 DirectCu2 graphics card. At the moment I am at 1.1500V for 976MHz core. I want to unlock the voltage limitation. I downloaded the NiBiTor and changed the pre-selected max limit in 1.2125V and saved the BIOS. Is this the only thing to do or am I missing something else?

That is indeed the only thing you should be doing, just changing the value of the max voltage limit to the highest value available and once you flashed with that BIOS you can use Afterburner to select higher voltage and continue your overclocking journey. Just for reference, as you can't use the other BIOS since it is best to do it always with your own original BIOS version we have done this for you as well.

Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2011/02/27 23:27 Thank you so much, so that BIOS that you attached is the BIOS already modified? Thank you so much for the attention and time taken. One more thing, what's the most secure way of flashing a graphics BIOS? Flashing motherboard BIOS is pretty straight forward but I don't know about GPU's. I'm going to check a how to guide but if you can have any other information so I can be aware of it would be great. I found myself a sweet forum to stay with.

Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2011/02/28 09:27 Yes, the BIOS update I have provided is already having the max voltage limit upped to the max value possible. And about the flashing of the graphics card you should just make a bootable Ms-Dos media, such as an USB memory stick and put on their in your case the latest nvFlash version with the BIOS provided, though rename it to a short name. After that you need to boot from that device and just flash under Ms-Dos operating system which is simply command based.

nvFlash v5.xx Software Commands...
"nvflash -4 -5 -6 newbios.rom" (Forced BIOS flashing)

Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2011/02/28 21:46 If you have other questions just let us know, but flashing is rather simple once you have the right tools. Also if there are still some others who are seeking for a tweaked BIOS version for their own graphics card, you can just ask. And remember there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers and we all started knowing nothing.

Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2011/03/02 12:27 Great "spirit" It's been harder and harder to find this way of thinking in enthusiasts foruns ...

Thank you Mavke!

Btw, creating a MS Dos boot disk ... is there any software that does that automatically ? Sorry but, lots of doubts

Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2011/03/02 13:08 Yes, I would suggest to use an USB memory stick and just get some small one even of 256MB will do which you just will keep as the one for flashing. Than you download the HP program named like USB disk storage format tool and you will need best to download the image of a Windows 98 startup disk. Once you that Windows 98 startup disk image, just extract it to a directory and use the HP utility to format your USB stick as a bootabled media which will request from the boot recors, where you point to the directory where you extracted that Windows 98 image.

Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2011/03/04 12:47 Okay, the fact that I'm using Windows 7 doesn't matter correct? Just tell me in steps, what to do. So first create bootable USB memory stick, copy nvFlash and BIOS to it, insert USB stick and reboot. Once booted from this USB memory stick run the nvFlash program with the command provided. After that a reboot and that should be it, is this correct?

Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2011/03/04 14:02 This is program that you can use to make bootable USB flash drive and also contains Windows 98 boot files. In the archive you can find instructions how to do it after you make bootable USB flash drive, copy nvFlash and BIOS after which you boot from it and you are ready to flash your card.

Whatever oprating system you are currently using doesn't matter to create the bootable USB memory stick, just make sure to use the HP program that I have indicated and via Google you find enough Windows 98 startup disk images to make it work. For the remainder your steps are just fine.
