Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2010/11/18 22:41 Thanks for the feedback and update, and with 3DMark Vantage it shows that overlocking does work great. Normally there are some other game benchmarks out that you could try, such as Resident Evil 5, and some others. I have used that one before with my GeForce GTX 285 graphics card.

Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2010/11/19 05:23 Okay so I ran the benchmark and gotten the exact same scores as the same BIOS with lower voltage. I might need the memory bumped to 4400MHz and 4500MHz on the 900MHz with the previous voltage BIOS to see any improvement.

Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2010/11/19 23:23 Just a quick question what would be the commands I need to save my BIOS and to write a new BIOS to my GeForce GTX 580 with the new nvFlash version?

The same as usual, as far as I know though don't quote me on that the commands haven't changed. And you should use nvFlash v5.95 or later, and just use the standard commands to backup and flash. Though can you provide us your own original BIOS as being a GeForce GTX 580 owner?

nvFlash v5.xx Commands...
"nvflash -b origbios.rom" (Backup Original BIOS)

Yeah I will post my BIOS afterwards, I ordered an EVGA GeForce GTX 580 Black Ops edition. I should receive it next week and will post my BIOS once I get it. Now I download the new nvFlash v5.100 and with it came a document which details the commands but I think they have changed a bit. Can you check it out? Thanks.

Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2010/11/20 00:42 Okay so the commands might be changed, or not but I have used a different command as provided. Though I would not know about the other, so both might work just fine.

nvFlash v5.xx Commands...
"nvflash --save origbios.rom" (Backup Original BIOS)

(make sure that saved rom file is around 81 kb.)

to flash new BIOS:

nvflash newbios.rom

(make sure that you are usin proper BIOS file for your card)

Both the 900/4400MHz and 900/4500MHz versions failed to run properly. Requesting two more versions if possible being 925/4200MHz and 925/4280MHz and both with 1.1255V. These have been tested good under OC Scanner for several 30 minute runs.

Well I know that document and it is dated a few years back, and the commands haven't changed since. You can use the long typing commands with the save word in or do as I have mentioned before the shortest command possible. And if you just run nvflash without any extra options, you will get the most accurate and updated details of possible commands, which I have done and nothing has changed for over a year now.
