Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2010/11/16 18:22 Mavke wrote:
Thanks for the update, and please note that we did remove the link you posted as not all forums link back to us and we are going to just be a pass through forum. Unless we see specically some back linking of our efforts on tweaking these GeForce GTX 580, we won't allow this.
I will repost on this thread and have added your website to my forum signature. Yes, three BIOS files please. One on stock voltage for daily use and two slightly upvolted at 900MHz and 925MHz files for benching. There were artifacts during 900 stress testing, so a bump in voltage may be necessary.

Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2010/11/16 20:48 Hi all, I have an EVGA GeForce GTX 580 for 3 days. Today I did some overclock testing and saw that the overclocking of my GeForce GTX 580 is decreasing the performance. I tried 835/4200MHz but 3DMark06 score decreased. I did some more tests with OC Scanner and saw that overclocking GPU or memory decreases my performance. So I wonder why, is it related with overclock protection which was found by coder of GPU-Z software? Your help and/or suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Awesome, at 875MHz I was seeing sustained temps of 95°C under OC Scanner and NVIDIA has mentioned that around 95°C is the max safe temp for the GeForce GTX 580. That said, another request to test with perhaps 865/4200MHz?
Well I am happy you like these tweaking and I am back with your request to have one with 865MHz core. Do let us know what your results are, especially on the max temps with your GeForce GTX 580 graphics card.

Could you perhaps also share with us your original BIOS, and please make sure it is the correct dump using the special version of GPU-Z or nvFlash v5.100, cause the BIOS of these GeForce GTX 580 has extra data and as such the size is around 81-82kb. It could be that you have a less quality chipset, which might require a slight bump in voltage to overclock to higher speeds.

Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2010/11/16 22:02 Okay thanks, the BIOS is just like the other person with default version, and that person could overclock just fine through software. So I would somehow assume perhaps that it would need some voltage, but I am not certain. If you are willing to try, I can offer you a modified version with the voltage bumped slightly. Just say the word.

Re:GeForce GTX 580 some easy overclock to 900MHz and more? - 2010/11/16 22:13 Sure, I can try. I'm waiting for your BIOS file. Could you please tell me that which version of nvFlash I should use and with which switches? Thanks again. If possible three versions with different voltage settings would be great, running at 835MHz, 850MHz and 900MHz.
