Quadro FX2500M board recover after bad flash or just bricked? - 2010/03/16 05:28
Okay, it all started because I wanted a GeForce Go 7950 GTX and got a Quadro FX2500M graphics device. I tried to flash a GeForce Go 7950 GTX BIOS to it and gotten a black screen, blind flashed it, got it working again. Then I flashed it to a GeForce Go 7900 GTX which worked fine with that. Then I thought, why not find a GeForce Go 7950 GTX BIOS with lower voltage setting and flash that, what's the worse that can happen? Go blank again? Well, I flashed it ignoring the warnings about wrong board match and on next reboot, white screen that seems to get spots on it as time goes on.
The system boots, so I try to reflash but gotten two beeps, and also with nvFlash two beeps means it's not detecting the graphics card. I think I bricked it, but I read you can short some firmware pins. That's where I'm at right now. I'm just short of shelling out the $80 to have it hopefully repaired. I think the firmware chip needs to be reflashed or even replaced. I spotted a couple 8-pin like chips but not sure which one it is. I tried shorting pins 1 and 8 on the AT8850 and it just turns off, I tried pin 1 and 4 too. I don't want to fry this graphics card. Would you have any advice?
