Quadro FX3700 graphics card with weird boot-up clock values? - 2010/02/12 16:32 Hi, I have a Quadro FX3700 and it doesn't always boot. However after several attempts the computer will start up and the card is rock solid when working. I thought I would check the video BIOS settings to ensure that they look okay. I checked the bootup clocks and found some bizzare numbers. Could this be causing my card to refuse to boot? I also seem to have corrupted info in the signum area, which makes me think that the clock settings may have been corrupted. Has anyone else seen such sort of numbers I have.

Re:Quadro FX3700 graphics card with weird boot-up clock values? - 2010/02/12 16:52 The bootup clock provided by NiBiTor only works for cards where we received the actual information so we can find out in the BIOS the right location. For most new cards the bootup clocks are showing wierd values as somehow that is no longer used which as far as I believe also the case for your Quadro version. This is certainly not causing the issues you are having.

Re:Quadro FX3700 graphics card with weird boot-up clock values? - 2010/02/12 17:52 Thanks for the reply. I will not go ahead and modify my video BIOS. It does seem that the card is unable to start, but I guess this could also be caused by a hardware issue. Do you think its safe to modify the OEM signon? It's not obvious to me if its NiBiTor thats reading the data incorrectly. So I might corrupt a valid string.

Well it could also be some compatibility issue within your system which might not be a graphics problem at all, but rather the hardware not working well together. We can't advice on what you what to change if we don't have a copy of the original BIOS so we can check for ourselves. So attach the original BIOS of your Quadro card so we can take a look.

Re:Quadro FX3700 graphics card with weird boot-up clock values? - 2010/02/15 11:39 Thanks for your reply. I have tried this graphics card in several systems and the fault follows the card. I have tried it in two different Dell machines, an HP and a Shuttle system. In every system that the card is inserted into, bootup becomes intermittent. I just attached the BIOS file taken from the card.
File Attachment:
File name: Quadro_fx3700.rom
File size:60416 bytes

The original BIOS that you attached looks good, though it is a very new version from 2009 while I have only been able to check it against an older BIOS which is quite different, but that is rather normal. So I don't see that the BIOS will be actually causing this, but rather an issue with the card itself. Do you still have warranty?

Re:Quadro FX3700 graphics card with weird boot-up clock values? - 2010/02/16 11:59 Hi, thanks for confirming the BIOS looks okay, sounds like a hardware issue. I don't think there's any warranty left on this card as I think it only has a one year warranty. In any event, its unlikely I will be able to track down the supplier and receipt for this card as it was purchased some time ago. The alternative is that I don't switch off the computer that has the card installed. It seems to be fine once I get it to boot. I have tried to contact PNY, the card manufacturer to see if they offer a repair service, but so far I have had no reply.

The cards are workstation version which are very expensive and as such should have more than just one year warranty. And having checked the website, it comes with 3 years warranty, so you should be able to contact PNY and ask their assistance and even get an RMA to replace it. What I would do is give the PNY support a call and see what they say, but really explain that it is no longer workable and they should over you a replacement since it has 3 year warranty.

Re:Quadro FX3700 graphics card with weird boot-up clock values? - 2010/03/20 00:08 I am having problems with this wokstation card only with the 3D scenes. I wonder about how I can install this new BIOS for the Quadro FX3700 card. Maybe it can solve my problem. Please let me know if I can solve it or how can I install the new BIOS. I would really appreciate your help. Thanks!

Please stick to your own thread, cause we are a professional forum and we don't want to be posting the same message on different thread. So stick with yours and if you really want to go on adventure for some BIOS flashing, you can ask again on your own thread.
