Buying a new laptop and need help to know which is the best? - 2010/02/12 06:15 Hello, I am bying a laptop really soon which I will use to work and play games online like World of Warcraft or Modern Warfare 2. I also don't want to buy another laptop in a year or two. I want this one to last. I don't mind for the battery lasting because I will have it pluged all the time. So here it goes, I have no idea which one to buy.

Alienware Laptop Specifications...
- Intel Core i7 720QM Quad Core 2.8GHz Processor
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M 1GB Graphics
- Unknown 250GB SATA2 7200rpm Hard Disk
- Unknown 4GB DDR3 Dual Channel Memory
- 15.6inch WideHD+ 1600x900 WLED Display
- Wireless 1520 802.11n Half Mini-Card
- Internal High-Definition 5.1 Surround Sound
- Internal Bluetooth 2.1 Mini-Card
- Genuine Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium

ASUS Laptop Specifications...
- Intel Core i7 720QM Quad Core 2.8GHz Processor
- ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 1GB Graphics
- Unknown 2x 500GB SATA2 7200rpm Hard Disk
- Unknown 8GB DDR3 Dual Channel Memory
- 17.3inch FullHD 1920x1080 Bright LED Display
- Built-in 802.11 Wireless A/B/G/N Network Card
- Internal Bluetooth Connect with EDR Function
- Combo Dual Layer SuperMulti DVD Writer Drive
- Internal 8-in-1 Memory Card Reader
- Genuine Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium

The ASUS also has a build in camera of two megapixel and also Sound Blaster compatible 3D audio sound card. About the same price as the Alienware, though money doesn't really bother me. Now, I am noob in computers and laptops, so I was wondering also which graphics card was the best between those two. I really need some one who can explain every good and bad between the laptops. Thanks a lot for the help.

Re:Buying a new laptop and need help to know which is the best? - 2010/02/12 09:38 Since both are coming with the same processor which is really good and should be able to go a long way, the main difference is the graphics card and the amount of memory. If you don't want to buy a new one after two years, just go for the one with the highest specifications which is very clearly the ASUS one. And this simply cause the memory is 8GB and the graphics device is the latest and highest available for a laptop currently. Also if you will play games you should go for at least 17inch as display.
