NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v5.4 software and give feedback? - 2010/01/19 21:25 As promised we would come soon with a new version of NiBiTor and this time we just shared without reaching our donation target. We did get your feedback and some extra BIOS's submitted and with the help of xtremetheme we have a new update to add some extra support, also with some partial support for newer video cards. And for any features or things you would like to see, let us know and we will see what is possible and/or feasible.

NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v5.4 Software

For those who are having some of those new 40nm based GeForce GT 2x0 graphics cards and are looking for the full support to tweak clock speed and voltages, this is available after a donation through the ChipIn module. And don't forget that all the development is only feasible due to your donations. As always please provide your feedback, that way we will be able to support you even better! Also provide your original BIOS as that help a lot to get better support in the next versions!

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v5.4 software and give feedback? - 2010/01/20 10:57 Well, NiBiTor is okay software but I always found it fully functional and absolutely freeware. Since I have a GeForce GT 240 and want to make changes in BIOS, I choose to wait. Sooner or later you will release a fully functional version. To make sure, I understood the donation path for the further developing of the program, but it is too expensive. I wish you many new NiBiTor versions to come.

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v5.4 software and give feedback? - 2010/01/20 11:41 Mmm, nice message but if everyone is acting like this then we will just stop creating any new versions of NiBiTor since the appreciation to the hard work we do is none. And if you find it expensive, that I find very strange cause if everyone would just donate $1-5 it would be easy to make us happy as this is not to make money but to invest it in the development activities. Also just so you know all person who have donated over the past year $25 or more, being in a single donation or through different donations will get the new version automatically in the coming days.

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v5.4 software and give feedback? - 2010/01/20 12:29 And otherwise? Meaning when will this newer version become available as a public version? When can we expect that to happen, would this be sooner or rather then later?

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v5.4 software and give feedback? - 2010/01/20 12:50 Typically we try to at least reach half the target of the ChipIn module, but if the changes are not so big like the change that was done with this version we would release it as is without any donations. But the upcoming version did ask a lot of changes, as for each single type we needed to add very specific coding where normally we just need to code once per series. This time it is coding per type of card, which was a nightmare.

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v5.4 software and give feedback? - 2010/01/20 13:17 So tell me, is possible to find specific values in the BIOS via an hex editor and change it? And then flash the card with that modification to get to an overclocked card.

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v5.4 software and give feedback? - 2010/01/20 13:37 Everything is possible but then you need to make sure you know what you are doing. And with these series you have a bit more to change then with the previous series, so it won't be that easy to do just by a hex editor. Neither are the clocks at the same place for all BIOS's, as we have seen for the same type of cards already two different layouts for the clock speeds and voltage levels. Lastly, you won't be able to set the right checksum.

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v5.4 software and give feedback? - 2010/01/20 14:41 Mmm, checksum can be corrected to look like true, but thanks for the information. I will start my own little research on this, so wish me luck with that.

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v5.4 software and give feedback? - 2010/01/20 23:03 Thanks for the updated NiBiTor version, tt works well, but I did not find however too much difference when opening my Zotac GeForce 9800 GT Eco BIOS with it, compared to previous versions. I was surprised to see in several websites that you say GeForce 9800 GT support added in your changes, since it was already supported previously.

I understand it's much more fun to focus on new boards, and that you hadn't enough time to reverse engineer the GeForce 9800 GT fan management control with the two BIOS's that I provided to you for my board a few months ago. But at least you could have added the Zotac brand detection!

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v5.4 software and give feedback? - 2010/01/20 23:13 Well indeed the GeForce 9800 GT was already supported, but only the two version known to all being the first 65nm version and the refreshed 55nm version. But after that there NVIDIA also allowed some green version which also was given a specific device ID which some of those cards gotten and that was new and as such added in this version. So yes, we try to keep on top of things to add even things that might not have been noticed out there.

On the fan management there isn't much that can be done cause on these GeForce 9800 GT series the problem is simply that the fan control table is just not present, on those where some limited table is present you can't just change the behavior as that won't work due to the layout not being compatible. So yes we checked it all but couldn't bring anything new to this, unless someone can proof a way be our guest.
