NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v5.2 software and give feedback? - 2009/08/17 19:49 As promised we would make a new version of NiBiTor available and this time we just shared without reaching our donation target. We did get your feedback and some extra BIOS's submitted and with the help of xtremetheme we have a new update to add some extra support. This is a new release which adds extra support for several mobile graphics cards. And for any features or things you would like to see, let us know and we will see what is possible and/or feasible.

NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v5.2 Software

For those who are having some of the single PCB based GeForce GTX 295 graphics card and are looking for the needful support, well either you wait till we got the appreciation that this tool deserves or you just donate using the ChipIn module and you will get exclusively the newest version supporting these cards. And please provide your feedback, that way we will be able to support you even better! Also provide your original BIOS as that help a lot to get better support in the next versions!

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v5.2 software and give feedback? - 2009/08/18 03:57 Thanks again for the nice work. Just wondering if it is that real, if I open my ASUS GeForce GTX 275 BIOS and go to VID voltages, I can't change the voltage? Though with NiBiTor v5.1 software I can change the VID voltages? Just some thing to check.

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v5.2 software and give feedback? - 2009/08/18 08:24 Mmm, that sounds a bit strange as normally nothing was changed for the GeForce GTX 275 with this version. But it is good that you report this, as you never know and we will check this out and get back to you. And I will as well check for the next version, just to be save.

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v5.2 software and give feedback? - 2009/08/27 23:25 Hello, does NiBiTor v5.2 support the GeForce GTS 250 cards? When I read BIOS of my MSI card and look into fan speed IC all values there are empty. And I know, for example it have minimum speed limit of 35%, but it not visible in output in any way. Same for Zotac it has limit of 40%, but it is not displayed either. I want to set minimum limit to 30%, what will happen if I change these values? And since there other values are empty too what will happen to them, will this damage card?

Yes, the GeForce GTS 250 cards are supporting since the previous version and just as like the GeForce 9800 series and in the end the GeForce GTS 250 is just one of those but again a bit optimized to even further reduce the costs, and those cards have no fan speed table in the BIOS and therefore the fan speed IC logic is fully empty and can't be used. And up to this moment there is no way to introduce a fan speed table yourself as that would screw up the card.

Also as far as we found this is rather again NVIDIA removing some logic to reduce the cost but indeed it doesn't offer any flexibility to the users, though normally using RivaTuner some tweaks are possible but which can't be supported from a tweaking BIOS perspective. So yes, the GeForce GTS 250 is supported but certain logic has been removed from these cards to make these cheaper, just like we have seen with the 55nm versions of the GeForce GTX 200 series.

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v5.2 software and give feedback? - 2009/08/28 10:54 Thanks for your answer. Strangely, I can change values in fan speed IC dialog. If they can't be used and lead to screw up of the card that would be reasonable to disable this dialog elements. I believe value of minimum fan speed is stored somewhere in the BIOS, based on my comparison of Zotac and MSI manufactured cards. I will be happy if it would be possible to change these values. The NVIDIA control panel has control to change fan speed, but this control have 0% fan speed mapped to actual minimal fan speed, which in 35% in MSI case.

So this control, which is very nice idea, can not be used to lower fan speed below 35%. This control seems more promising than RivaTuner direct control, becasue I don't need to remember to change fan speed manually to faster value when starting 3D application. And it is more promising than auto control because auto control is limited to minimum speed limit and noisy for plain 2D mode.

Well if you know what that would be and where it is located and how the logic does work on that minimum fan speed we would be glad to have a second look at it. Though you will need to then explain to us and should have tried it yourself by ways of Hex editing your BIOS and with proof that it works, as don't have a GeForce GTS 250 graphics card but the same fan speed control section in the BIOS is no different from the GeForce 9800 series which also didn't have a fan speed table. So the ball is in your court, if it works and proven we will certainly add the function to a next NiBiTor version.

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v5.2 software and give feedback? - 2009/09/02 21:24 Hello, when I want to readout the BIOS with NiBiTor I always get a blue screen. I use Windows 7 as operating system, being the 32-bit version and my graphics card is a GeForce Go 7400.

Sorry mate, but as long as we don't have the final retail version of Windows 7 we are not investing yet too much time in checking if NiBiTor can support this operating system to readout the BIOS and going back to Vista which has the driver signing protection we couldn't get it working without paying Microsoft a certificate which we found too expensive. But we will look into it, but you can still use NiBiTor to read your original BIOS saved with any other software.

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v5.2 software and give feedback? - 2009/09/03 19:16 Thanks for the reply. If I remember correctly NiBiTor provoked also a blue screen under Windows XP. But as you said other tools to read out the BIOS work. I just wanted to share my experience.
