Re:Acer Aspire One, looking for Windows XP Home install discs? - 2009/05/21 10:58 Well I didn't try any overclocking as 1.66GHz is enough for me, I also have 1GB memory and a 120GB 7200rpm hard disk and without any optimizing its very fast in file transfer, downloading and browsing.

Re:Acer Aspire One, looking for Windows XP Home install discs? - 2009/05/21 11:21 Okay, it might be just me but I somehow expected it to be a bit quicker in response. Though this is my first Netbook and I am very happy with it, just needs 2GB memory really and well woudl like to streamline it to be as best as it can be. By the way, call it what you like but I am hung on the Windows XP look and feel and it seems I can't get the start menu looking as before. Yeah I don't like the Vista way of things...

Oh and one thing I did do is plugged in a SD flash card, such a high speed one of 4GB and enabled the ReadyBoost technology, which seems to help in starting up and shutting down faster. Did you do that as well? I might get instead a very small USB flash key which just takes up the USB slot and almost nothing more for this. Cause now I can't read any other memory flash cards. What do you think, have you tried that yet?

Re:Acer Aspire One, looking for Windows XP Home install discs? - 2009/05/21 12:17 No I didn't try any tweaking on it, I used it at first when I got it like a month or so because I need it in my work but after that I started working from home and now the Netbook is use by my mom. But I still use it from time to time and it's really fast, I didn't expect at first that this little thing will be so fast and good. It has all things like big expensive notebooks, camera, 3G, card reader, slot for SSD and so on. I didn't try anything on it because it is fast enough for me.

Re:Acer Aspire One, looking for Windows XP Home install discs? - 2009/05/22 09:35 Okay thanks, well I might do some tweaking hehe. Cause yeah, I bought because it is small and didn't want a big laptop just for checking mail and browsing. But I want it to be quick in response and well although it is okay, and with Windows 7 quicker than Windows XP Home, I still would like to get most out of it. So I will do some searching on this.

Re:Acer Aspire One, looking for Windows XP Home install discs? - 2009/05/22 15:36 They released now Windows 7 manager which is like Windows XP and Vista manager you can also use TuneUp utilities and other programs like these.

Re:Acer Aspire One, looking for Windows XP Home install discs? - 2009/05/22 21:34 Good, I will look into itn though first waiting on my system memory upgrade of 2GB and than maybe it will be performing as I would like it. Yeah I am not easily pleased. But yeah, this is really an awesome Netbook!

Re:Acer Aspire One, looking for Windows XP Home install discs? - 2009/05/26 13:52 Do you have access to a copy of Windows XP Professional to see if it will work? Don't know the difference, just a thought.

Re:Acer Aspire One, looking for Windows XP Home install discs? - 2009/05/26 15:30 Yeah I have a copy of Windows XP Home edition with SP3 included, and it does work to install it on the Netbook with a bootable USB stick, though I am now using Windows 7 which is easier as all drivers are included from scratch. And the Professional version of Windows XP is not a good choice for a Netbook really.

Re:Acer Aspire One, looking for Windows XP Home install discs? - 2009/06/09 15:23 Well I have now been working with the Aspire One D250 and although it is a great netbook and I really like it a lot, I would like the operating system to be quicker in response and I think it might just be Windows 7 which is a generic version and not the real home, but what about other operating systems?
