Core 2 Quad Q9450 system and is overclocking really worth it? - 2009/02/12 08:11
Is it all worth it, thatis really the question. Here are the details about my system. I have an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 with OCZ Gold DDR2 PC2-8800 memory, a BFG GeForce GTX 285 OC version and this all on an ASUS P5N-T Deluxe mainboard running Windows Vista 32-bit. Now at stock setting 3DMark Vantage gives a score of 14450 performance level, comprising of GPU score of 12500 point and CPU score of 38000 points. Overclocking my quad core to the max I've reached is 2.93GHz with stock cooler that gives me on average and extra 2 frames only.
My GeForce GTX 285 which is default at 666/24848MHz with shaders at 1512MHz I ahave overclocked to 691/2592MHz and shaders at 1566MHz. It actually locked when trying any higher. Now with all this overclock I managed a score of 14850 on average. In total I got an average of 3-4 frames. If anyone has a similar CPU or video card how high can you go?
