In the past I lost al lot of money and from that events I don't had a credit card. I don't live in the US so credit card isn't as necessary. If you could open a postal box or give me a postal address I could send you money trough a simple mail letter. Mmm, well I am not in US though the site is hosted in US as the price is somehow enough cheaper than in Europe, but still I do have a credit card and a bank account and PayPal can work with either. You can open a PayPal account and just transfer money from yoru bank account to PayPal normally, like a normal bank transfer. And yeah I know it is in dollars, though we do only work with euros. So any chance that would work?

I feel honored to be able to contribute funds to such an excellent cause as NiBiTor. For those of us with marginal hardware, running Linux, NiBiTor is basically a savior.
I've sent money to my PayPal account, which should be there in 3-4 days. I'm in hopes that this will be before your December 31st deadline for making your $250 goal. I'd like to thank you most sincerely for your time and efforts on NiBiTor. Please continue your valuable and indispensible work on this utility.

Well, you should normally make it just fine, and in the end when you donate you get the newest versions and until our goal is not met it won't be made publicly available. Of course there are other ways to help us and that is by also visiting our advertisers, especially these price comparisons. Cause what we do is use that money to pay the hosting server, invest what else is left into the site or use as an extra for our development but the last few month due to the global crisis the rates have gone down which means we need more visitors or more who from time to time do visit our advertisers.

Re:Are you using NiBiTor, than why don't you join and contribute?! - 2008/12/29 09:22Hey, even if I'm not using NiBiTor at all, I did donate to support your work. I have my own project with its own success, called OCCT, and I'm encountering the very same problems as you are encountering, the lack of user support and donations. I don't have access to test hardware, and I'm relying mostly on beta testers to debug my application with new hardware. It would have been 100 times faster if could test it directly. I did test the donations, and gathered about $400 in eight months. And I had a few generous donations, like NVIDIA did support me by sending me a graphics card.
However, when you see your software being downloaded 2000 times per day, being copied everywhere, sometimes used by websites or even resellers to demo and such... And when you compare all those hours invested to a mere $400, it gets frustrating. Especially when your hosting costs are about $200 per year. Anyway, you had a great idea, and I do hope you'll reach the $250 goal you have set as token of appreciation!

It seems like a program that is well done and does what is says just needs to be put on sale for a certain price or else you won't just get any appreciation at all. While it is for us very simple, if all persons downloading and using NiBiTor would simply share $1 each, then development effort and time spend would easily have been rewarded. But what is free means generally that people don't care, which is exactly what we see from 99.9% of all persons who actually did download NiBiTor in the past.

I would have quite a lot of money if people would pay $1 per download, sigh. I will release a major version in the upcoming month. I worked one year for it, as it features a 3D test, a CUDA test, a power supply test and a new GUI, and I will launch a call for donations at the same time. I wonder how much I will get. The sad ting is that for me, it's not about making a living, it's just getting enough money to buy test hardware...

Well the sad thing is true of us as well as we do the hardware reviews but that doesn't mean we actually can keep the hardware either. And we do split our work a bit as running a website, doing reviews and developing would just be a full day job. But really that wouldn't pay our bills, so we have all a normal day job to do first. So the donations are as well to upgrade our development hardware to keep going.

Re:Are you using NiBiTor, than why don't you join and contribute?! - 2008/12/30 17:35Just a small update to all, first to those who have participated and are enjoying NiBiTor v4.7 currently you wil be receiving a newer version tomorrow as a gift to start the new year with the latest version. All others still have the time to donate, cause frankly it will depend on tomorrow morning what we will do either we will just release NiBiTor v4.7 to everyone or we will just shift the date again. And well it is looking more towards that second option currently mainly due to the fact that the concept of each an every user just donating $1 hasn't really worked so far. So your chance to make a difference!

Though I would really invite each person who is downloading this new version to also ChipIn and contribute at least $1, but if you can put some more for the further development of NiBiTor. Cause again a lot of persons will download it but how many will actually make a donation?

I don't have high hope but I do still hope that all those who download NiBiTor will contradict me and finally start donating and as such show that they do like the program would like to see more of it. In the end $1 a person isn't much although those that have donated generally give a bit more and that does feel good. But the majority isn't really getting the point to take action.
