Radeon HD 4850 connected via DVI to TV, resolution problem? - 2008/12/21 05:29 Hey guys, I just got a new PC, setting it up. Here's my little problem. I have a Radeon HD 4850, connecting it to my LCD 32inch HDTV and I have the DVI to RGB converter on it for now just until I get a HDMI cable. From my old PC, I ran analog RGB from my GeForce 7600 GT to this same LCD TV at a resolution of 1280x768. Now with this new setup, I cannot set my resolution to 1280x768. I know its not an impressive resolution, but it looks best because other resolutions are terrible looking, look blurry or stretched, etc. I've tried forcing it with PowerStrip, but it won't work. Any help? Thanks.

Re:Radeon HD 4850 connected via DVI to TV, resolution problem? - 2008/12/21 06:56 I guess had I spent a few extra minutes I would have solved the problem. Pretty simple actually, sorry for the question. I had to tinker around a little bit, but I got it running 1366x768 at 60Hz and looks great. Thanks.

Okay, excellent and thanks for the update. Seems a bit normal that a HDTV you would use a high definition widescreen resolution. Enjoy it once again and it should be even better with the HDMI cable.

Re:Radeon HD 4850 connected via DVI to TV, resolution problem? - 2008/12/23 06:48 Yes, I'm still awaiting an HDMI cable, should be here soon. Just to add, I still am not able to set to 1280x768, nor do I want to now. Previously I had been working with analog hookups, and 1366x768 would look terrible, but with DVI it's fantastic.

Would you happen to know if this is because it's a digital signal instead of analog. Just curious.
