Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v4.6 software and got feedback? - 2008/12/01 19:43 DextoR wrote:
Thanks for your quick answer. I'm gonna try do dump GPU BIOS with nvFlash as soon as I manage to get a USB drive. Is there any danger in dumping the BIOS? After all, it's just a reading operation, so I don't think it could be dangerous, but I would like your opinion! Thanks in advance.
It is just dumping, so reading out the BIOS and that is it. So you won't really be something to the card except just saving a copy of the BIOS to a file. And as such this is not dangerous at all, but flashing can be if you don't know what you are doing or not well prepared.

Thanks for sharing the BIOS, just so you know I removed your other two posts as you made quite a mess of it but well it is sorted. What we do want or better need to know is the specifics of this graphics card, like how much memory it has? And we will see to include support in the next version. Thanks in advance.

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v4.6 software and got feedback? - 2008/12/02 11:26 Hi, well the GPU-Z program is not updated yes I will just give in writing. The GeForce 9650M GT is a 55nm chip and coming with 512MB of GDDR3 memory and clocked at 550/1600MHz with the shaders at 1350MHz.

We have tried to dump BIOS via NiBiTor. We had no success with that software either. This really seems like this is a dead end...

Are you fooling around? What did I ask you? I didn't ask you to use NiBiTor, I cealry asked you to use nvFlash from a bootable DOS media. So have you tried that? Cause nvFlash is the tool made by NVIDIA and the others as somehow based on it, if it doesn't work with nvFlash you can almost be sure none of the other tools will be able to backup he BIOS. Once again can you backup the BIOS using nvFlash? Thank you...

I apologize for this mistake. I meant to say that we tried BIOS dumping via nvFlash, but we had no luck in doing it! Sorry again, I was writing too quickly and I wasn't paying attention...

Okay, good. That is what I did hope you had done, and that confirms that nvFlash neither can make the backup which makes us believe it has no standalone video BIOS but that it is integrated in the main BIOS of your laptop.

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v4.6 software and got feedback? - 2008/12/06 21:44 In fact, it's exactly as you have just said. Anyway, a guy named LeetPix has managed to work out the proper overclocking procedure! Thanks again for your attention and your support.

Yes, I know. That's just how it is with laptops sometimes. But can you explain how you can overclock now? Cause I would be interested as well to know just in case others are asking after it.
