What's next, share your ideas with us to make NiBiTor better? - 2008/11/22 17:01Before we are going to release a new version, it is time to raise our concern around the tool. Yes concern, as we see it used a lot but we don't see much of you all visiting us nor really supporting us. This tool is not just as simple as it for you, when using we mean. And no appreciation and taking it all for granted, makes us wonder why we should keep on releasing new versions that are free. And no it is not our style to switch it around and making it a tool to pay for, but we put in a lot of time and effort seems natural you all can do something back?
So if you got that far with the reading and understand we are not here to make money but no support, no visitors, no participation means we less advertising income and we have to pay our bills at the end of each month as well. If nothing is left over, it is hard to just keep on developing for free. But I guess that has sunk in now? What about you now? Can you tell us what you would like to see in NiBiTor? And don't come with what is just impossible, some normal and doable requests. Just tell us and we will see what can be done for the next and upcoming releases.
And last but not least, the less feedback and participation on this thread the longer it will be for a new version to come out. Yeah, we are creative if you guys are creative, so get the word out, get your friends to join in and come up with your ideas and start participating and visiting at the same time our sponsors. Ideas that will come up the most will be those we will focus on first. Thank you and it is all in your hands now.

Re:What's next, share your ideas with us to make NiBiTor better? - 2008/11/23 14:36Good thinking to somehow ask from some more involvement of the public, which can as such lead to more enhancements that we are all somehow looking for. I for one have always appreciated the tool and made some donations, of course rather small but I from the principle that if we all would made a small effort that is just what it takes. I am looking forward to some more mobile chips support, but I guess that is already in the works. I am sharing the info with some other to come over and post, as we all want a new version rather faster than later.

Re:What's next, share your ideas with us to make NiBiTor better? - 2008/11/23 18:59That is indeed the point, and depending on what is mentioned and how many really participate we will assess what we will do with teh next version of NiBiTor. If there are no reactions, I think the conclusions will be very clear.

Re:What's next, share your ideas with us to make NiBiTor better? - 2008/11/24 17:39I understand the problem. Developing on a project with this complexity and support for many cards, which you not own yourself can be quite a burdon. I am one of the lead developers in another project, GnuRadio which runs on multiple platforms with multiple hardware components which also need drivers for all these platforms. So I know what a burdon it can be. The solution we took is, make it all opensource. You don't get more income. But you get less work.
The work gets distributed amongst much more developers. The decisions about what features get implemented are somewhat democratic. If somebody needs it so much, he decides to work on it, it gets implemented. Since more people know the inner workings and share their thoughts you also get better documentation. I for one would really like support for my card GeForce 9600M GS in NiBiTor. I digged around a bit and I am getting somewhat of a picture on how the speed parameters in the BIOS are organised.
I am hoping on support for it in NiBiTor, but if that doesn't happen I will write my own tool. Partly based on some code from NVClock and NVIDIA settings. If NiBiTor were opensource I would have contributed immediately and would be finished much earlier. Others would benefit from this too. I would also port NiBiTor to other platforms, like Linux. I never use Windows, except when I am forced to like for running NiBiTor and BIOS flash tools. Well these were my 2 cents. Whatever you decide, good luck with the project.

That would work for you but won't work for NiBiTor really as you need a very good knowledge on how a BIOS is really structured and works and there are only a limited amount of persons who really do and we don't have the time to just start explaining and explaining, this is for us since we started with coding a tool an ongoing process for already over five years that knowledge is just not easy to jsu drop on someone... But thanks for sharing.

Re:What's next, share your ideas with us to make NiBiTor better? - 2008/11/28 23:45First of all I think we can say NiBiTor is great and that extra features are always great to get added, though which ones that is another question. I would like to see some extra tweaks for the fan speeds, isn't there some bootup setting as well that can be changed with fan speed? And what about TV out modes? Just some ideas, maybe there is more...

Re:What's next, share your ideas with us to make NiBiTor better? - 2008/11/29 11:24Okay thank mate, that is noted down. We don't know how much we coud do on that but we can revisit. Otherwise I am a quite disappointed by the response on this cause it seems just after a week we have only 2-3 reactions? So nobody really cares what comes next with NiBiTor? We find that a bit strange but well that is up to you guys...

Re:What's next, share your ideas with us to make NiBiTor better? - 2008/11/29 12:57Euh what do you mean exactly? Cause just with what you give as information that just doesn't mean much. So could you share a bit what you are thinking of on those two aspects? Than we can see and check it further, and also your ideas what you would would like as information. With what you gave we can't do much as do give already such kind of information, so a bit more details please.

Re:What's next, share your ideas with us to make NiBiTor better? - 2008/12/02 09:03Can all those who actually want extra support for a certain card please also participate on this thread? The more reactions and sharing what you want to see added the better to go forward. So please share and let us know. We might release a new version for the holiday season so the more info, thoughts and ideas the better...
