Gainward Radeon HD 4870 Golden Sample, and game issue? - 2008/11/21 19:33 Is there someone who has a newer BIOS for the Gainward Radeon HD 4870 Golden Sample which comes with 512MB of GDDR5 memory? The BIOS version on mine is 011.007.000.000 and is dated 2008/08/14. This is my BIOS but it does not work correctly for games. Thank you.

First thing I want to say, and that is a warning as you posted twice the same thread though different titles, do that again and all your posts will be deleted. You post it once, we don't allow duplicates, but that is normal wouldn't you think? Next about the games, what is not going correctly? Can you explain? Cause many of your guys always first come that you have issues and always blaim the BIOS but generally it is not the BIOS. So one rule if you say you have problems you need to explain them, so do that we are listening!

Re:Gainward Radeon HD 4870 Golden Sample, and game issue? - 2008/11/22 16:39 The explain what is wrong with the graphiqc card and games. First games freezes, blue screen, restart of computer. The graphics card original BIOS is overclocked, and not changed. I am using the original Catalyst 8.11 drivers and temperature of graphics card in the games is 52°C to 57°C. And nothing really wrong with Windows. I tried everything but it makes no difference. The 3DMark is working perfectly but games not. Thank you.

Okay that already one part, now the next part, which games are you talking about? Cause again all what is happening is not something that is just pointing to the BIOS at all. Since you mentioned 3DMark is working fine. And also which Windows are you running? Oh, and I am editing your messages as your English isn't really good and sometimes very strange to understand.

My Windows is Vista Ultimate 32-bit. The games that do not work correctly are Far Cry 2, Turok, Stalker Clear Sky, Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty 5. ANd just as extra my computer specs are an Intel Core 2 Duo E 7200, 2x 2GB DDR2 memory, Gigabyte GA-P31-S3G mainboard and a 550W power supply.

Okay, thanks for all the information. Now what I really want to know next is the brand and type of your power supply, cause the high-end graphics cards really need a good quality power supply that can give very decent Amps without fluctuations, and especially during gaming this is one of the most important factors to keep on running finr. So can you check that and come back to us?

Re:Gainward Radeon HD 4870 Golden Sample, and game issue? - 2008/11/23 15:13 My power supply is having the following details shown, Power Pentium 4 & PFC Model LC 6550 version 2.0. That is what I can see on it as the type and brand as far as I know.

Re:Gainward Radeon HD 4870 Golden Sample, and game issue? - 2008/11/23 16:21 Sorry but that seems to be a noname brand and we can't find the specs about it, so you will have to give us more details. So I would suggest you look on the power supply and provide us as much detail as possible...

Re:Gainward Radeon HD 4870 Golden Sample, and game issue? - 2008/11/23 17:37 Well the power supply is ATX showing LC-Power 550W with SATA connections and a 12cm fan. It also show the following features, such as a single 6-pin PCI Express power with the 12V rail having 24Amps.

Well thanks for the details, and I have found some details about it as well on the internet but it really is strange as you have a single 6-pin PCI Express connection, and the 12V rail being max 24Amps but that isn't guaranteed. So I would suggest to try your card at the friend to see if it works better there. I am sure, but it could be the power supply as the one you have is a noname really and not all are as good as their specs say...
