Hey, good Raptor. Been a long time for sure, my name was Cominferya before the platform changed some number of letters. What you been up to? Smokin score, by the way I just got my new toy up yesterday, CPU is cooled with a Thermaltake V1, can't get the Flex 2 2000MHz memory to run stable at over 1720MHz, maybe gonna have to water cool or better everything. The Core 2 Quad Q6600 is on stock air at 4.0GHz?

I was just thinking boy that avatar looks awfully familiar... No my CPU is water cooled with a Swifttech Apogee GTX, custom mounting and a Swifttech tri-120 radiator. My load temps are 61°C full load at 3.93GHz which is where I hold it at constantly. The video cards are cooled by stock coolers. And thanks for the warm welcome. So how do them GeForce GTX 280's do for ya?

Re:Hello , its me ... - 2008/08/08 09:01
Nice to see another familiar tag around here .sweet system u got there ,The XFX 280 GTX ,is sweet ,stock coolers ,can hit 710 core 1310,or 2620 on the mem maybe a little more if wasn't so damn tropical here ,though this is Alberta, winter in Sept as i remember, shouldn't complain...LOL... These fully shrouded cards ,9800GX2 ,GTX 280 ,Even the 9800 gtx plus are a little tricky to be messin with so i think i may leave them stock and check out a coolit freezone elite for my QX9770, or build somthin, huuuuummm! the V1 is kinda like the old gigabyte 3D rocket just pretty lookin though a couple reviews favoured it over stock...my 9770 was OEM ,so i had to grab somthing an throw on it and not much too choose from ,saw the freezone today ,

yes i would recomend you putting that cpu on something other then air cooling , i been seeing peeps hit 4+ gighz on a good water cooling set up . i dont know how well the 280's are as way of heat out put but looking at how nvidia used the same design from the 8800gtx makes me wonder . you got a decent lil clock out of them cards . i like to see how far they can go

Re:Hello , its me ... - 2008/08/08 10:01
Well, i ,do prefer the GTX 280's over my new pair of shoes ,er 9800GX2's.they run cooler to touch for sure and way more oc friendly score seems about same though haven tried the GX2 with the QX9770 ,only the QX6850 both @ 3.2 GHz,i'll test bed a bit when it cools off some..
the, 9800 GTX +'s has the driver stopping once in a while thing goin on so i have to do some testing there ,lines and blocks and freezing up, have a 9600 gt does that also, can oc and game fine, sitting idle with a 3d app[ running seems to ,just hang up for some reason and not very often couple times a day... ,so makes it even harder to diagnose..if bad driver, install, or bad card, ,I Been workin too much for most of the season and bought lots of stuff ,not much playtime,, soon...

Re:Hello , its me ... - 2008/08/09 04:00
well my experience with the driver stop responding bit in vista normally caused from the clocks to high or its getting warm . the gx2 looks like a complete mess when it comes to cooling its a shame really so much potential too .
and Hello , and thank you

Well they do it at stock,i can oc and game a couple hours on either of these machines, no problem but hour or so sitting idle can be hanged or not when you come back to it ,i testing the 9600 gt now with games ,and dreamscene, as dreamscene is where sitting idle and prefer to hang .gaming,it has not happened ,couple hours crysis i'm talkin too, settings @ just barely to start stutter ,1680 x 1050 i work the hardware when i first test to literally bring em to their Knees ,gotta know if is gonna take it,
Before buying 2 XFX xxx Edition cards i ,first brought home a standard edition,it went from green light to red light and no display at stock clocks and it went back to store right away. ,and thats when xxx cards show up ,i went very next day and bought the second after seeing what first was capable of..woohoo...i can exceed the stock ,water cooled cards ,clocks ,on stock air, in this heat ,awesome pair of cards...691/ 2610 set 24/7 shaders 1500 in riva tuner...and some left in the tank.Lol

How are the temps while basically idling? Running a video doesn't consitute 3D mode. I do know RivaTuner can set the fan speed on the GeForce 9600 GT, I am not so sure on the GeForce 9800 GX2. May need to modify the BIOS for that card or better yet get a water block for it. I have seen a couple for just that card.
