NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v4.3 software your feedback? - 2008/07/09 19:07 Here we go, a new version is again available. We did get quite some more BIOS's and with the help of xtremetheme we have a new update to add some extar support. This is a smaller release though we are now able to offer fan speed control as well on the newer GeForce 9 series graphics cards as well as the newest GeForce GTX 2x0 series. Upcoming features or things you would like to see... Let us know and we will see what is possible and/or feasible.

And please provide your feedback... That way we will be able to support you even better! Also provide your original BIOS as that help a lot to get thing better supported in the next versions!

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v4.3 software your feedback? - 2008/07/09 20:24 You are the best. I have now an overclock setting of 655/2320MHz with shaders at 1350MHz with my XFX standard and regulation fan... Chapeau for the job! Thank you.

You are welcome, and I am glad you can overclock your GeForce GTX 280 using NiBiTor. Again I want to invite all of you to also think about donations for further developments as the time and effort it takes is becoming quite huge for each release.

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v4.3 software your feedback? - 2008/07/10 06:09 So this new version allows me to change the startup fan speed in theory, I haven't tested it yet, but I am currently unable to change anything other than the fixed fan speed and the PWM mode and frequency. Also what is THyst?

Yeps it seems that the GeForce 9600 GT is using the fixed speed for the fan speed. The other options are not available on those which is a pitty as those are the most flexible.

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v4.3 software your feedback? - 2008/07/11 07:29 And yet when the driver kicks in the fan speed throttles with temperature as long as the GPU is over 60°C, which it rarely is mind you. There must be support for dynamic speed there somewhere.

That can all be but it is not as such controlled by the BIOS, but by the driver. Yes, the drivers also have some code in there to regulate the fan speed so don't just think all is coming from the BIOS. The easy way is the BIOS, but if the drivers say otherwise there is not much that can be done.

Re:NVIDIA BIOS Editor (NiBiTor) v4.3 software your feedback? - 2008/07/11 12:05 Ah well, you can only do what you can do and nothing more. In the end it makes no difference anyway, because if I set the fixed fan speed to 35% then even when the drivers aren't installed it will still be quiet. That is the only thing I'm really after right now, because the fan it painfully loud without drivers running.

Can you provide us the original BIOS of your Palit graphics card? We will then have a look at it but can promise anything as on some the fan speed might not be controlled by the BIOS...
