Boot behaviour change for 8xxx - 2008/07/03 16:31
Hello everybody. I faced the problem I can't solve by myself. I was working with nVidia two-headed cards starting from GeForce4MX400. For all these cards the boot behaviour was the same: if you switched two monitors to two heads you would see the boot process at both screens. It means videobios inits both CRTCs, DACs, etc. I use this in my own program to draw graphics on both screens. I use pure DOS, FreeDOS at the moment. Details on how to draw different pictures on two screens may be given if anybody is interested in it. But the MSI NX8500GT showed changed behaviour: it inits only the first head with monitor switched to it. So I can't bring graphics on two monitors. I beware this too smart behaviour will be kept for all future cards. I tried to play with boot options of bios using NiBiTor 4.2 but with no success. The question is: 1. Is it possible to make given BIOS not to be too smart and to init both heads during boot? Or 2. Did you ever seen the card with 8xxx or 9xxx that inits both heads during boot (so you see the boot process on both screens simultaneously)? Any help could be useful except of advise to ask nVidia - thanks, I tried in the past...
