Re:GeForce 9600 GT 1GB board flashing with 512MB SSC speeds? - 2008/07/30 06:15 At least the Radeons will cook food, laughing out loud. The GeForce GTX 280 might sautee some shrimp in garlic butter during Crysis at 2560x1600 with some anti-aliasing type sauce. But no seering steaks, lol...

Re:GeForce 9600 GT 1GB board flashing with 512MB SSC speeds? - 2008/07/30 11:01 Yeah, well I would say with the price being lowered the GeForce GTX 260 is the one card that looks real good and can go up against the Radeon HD 4870 easily. Of course when ATI will come with the Radeon HD 4870 X2 it might even change the pricing more, but we will have to see.

Re:GeForce 9600 GT 1GB board flashing with 512MB SSC speeds? - 2008/07/30 12:09 Haha, yup and Newegg has a MSI GeForce GTX 260 for $229 already after rebates. So that's competing for sure, cause that is a real low price, lower than the Radeon HD 4870 by far...

Wooow, that is an excellent price for the GeForce GTX 260 I would say. And yeah a real bargain to go for as MSI is a good brand with good support as well.

Re:GeForce 9600 GT 1GB board flashing with 512MB SSC speeds? - 2008/07/30 22:31 Hey hey, no hijacking my topic now. Just kidding, yes in terms of performance versus price the GeForce GTX 260 is the most appealing card on the market. You can get two for almost the same price as a GeForce GTX 280. I will have to see in September what the prices are and what is available. I will stick to my overclock on this card as 730/1800MHz with shaders at 1825MHz which is nothing compared to my 512MB SSC version which I had about overall overclock on 810/2250MHz with shaders at 1965MHz I think...

Well prices should be lower by than as the Radeon HD 4870 X2 version should then be on the market. So good thinking to wait still a bit and then to make up your mind.

Re:GeForce 9600 GT 1GB board flashing with 512MB SSC speeds? - 2008/08/01 03:17 Yes, I have learned from my past choices. I kind of just got the GeForce 9600 GT cause it was cheap and looked decent enough. It was, got just over 13k on 3DMark06 with my Phenom at 3.1GHz. Then soon after the GeForce 9800 GT comes out and was not much more then the GeForce 9600... So, I will wait it out a little to see what my best performance per dollar is going to be. If they just so happen to make a 55nm GeForce GTX 260 for $230 or less and I will most likely jump at that. If not the 65nm seems good enough and in two months will have dropped about $35 or more in base price by my guess once the Radeon HD 4870 X2 releases.

Re:GeForce 9600 GT 1GB board flashing with 512MB SSC speeds? - 2008/08/01 12:04 It is always hard to pick the right one, but I think currently either the GeForce GTX 260 or the Radeon HD 4870 are the cards to go for and those provide the most value. And yes if you can wait, then the 55nm version would be the best option which should be a very damn nice overclocker.

Re:GeForce 9600 GT 1GB board flashing with 512MB SSC speeds? - 2008/08/01 22:04 That is what I am hoping for. A 55nm GeForce GTX 260 would be great for overclocking. All I need to do is sell my GeForce 9600 GT to get maybe half of what the new GeForce GTX 260 will cost. I also hope they come with GDDR5 memory.

Well I doubt that you will get GDDR5 on the GeForce GTX 260, cause from what I have been hearing that would only come with the next version which will also have DirectX 10.1 and will be the GeForce GTX 300 series on 55nm or even lower...
