Re:GeForce 9600 GT 1GB board flashing with 512MB SSC speeds? - 2008/07/11 01:23 Thanks. So what should I tweak in NiBiTor? Would it be safe to increase the voltage to the memory? If so, that would let me overclock it more I assume... When using the program can I also try to set the timings lower? Also, is there a program I can use to change the voltage on the spot to see how it affects my card? This way I don't have to flash my card a bazillion times.

Re:GeForce 9600 GT 1GB board flashing with 512MB SSC speeds? - 2008/07/14 22:53 Sorry for the dip. The Palit version of this card has the core at 650MHz and the memory at 2GHz. Would it be safe to flash the cards timings/clocks to the ones on the Palit card. They have to be using the same memory right? Even though going from 1800MHz to 2000MHZ is a measly increase, I will take what I can get.

Re:GeForce 9600 GT 1GB board flashing with 512MB SSC speeds? - 2008/07/15 12:49 It is something you could try, but don't go from the assumption that both cards use the same memory just that easy. There is a big chance, but it can be different. So if you really dare, yeah give it a try and see. Just make sure you are prepared to flash back the original BIOS as I would give this only 50% chance to get that working.

Re:GeForce 9600 GT 1GB board flashing with 512MB SSC speeds? - 2008/07/15 23:05 Two things then, where can I find a BIOS for the Palit version and how can I find out if they have the same memory, can it be seen through NiBiTor or would I have to look at the physical chip? Thanks again for the help.

I will check but I think we have added the 1GB version of the Palit GeForce 9600 GT already on the downloads section. And no with NiBiTor you won't be able to see if they use the same memory chips, actually you can never tell that from the BIOS really neither for ATI cards. So yeah you really have to see on the memory chips on the card itself and than compare...

Re:GeForce 9600 GT 1GB board flashing with 512MB SSC speeds? - 2008/07/28 21:56 Thanks, I looked for the Palit BIOS and did not see it. I searched like crazy for what memory chips the Palit card uses and found nothing helpful. No zoomed in enough pictures. If someone here has the 1GB version I would like to see a picture of the memory chips or just tell me what they are. I can easily ask EVGA what they use but I do not own a Palit card so I do not think they will tell me. Okay, I found the 1GB Palit file and got it. Now the hard part. Seeing if they have the same memory...

Re:GeForce 9600 GT 1GB board flashing with 512MB SSC speeds? - 2008/07/29 01:12 Did some serious hunting. Came up with this and saw the following, the EVGA seems to come with Samsung memory tagged as 1.0ns. The Gainward seems to share the same memory chips though some others cards seem to use Qimonda 1.0ns and the Inno3D has once again Samsung. The memory on the EVGA and Gainward cards are almost identical and very similar to the Inno3D card. These are the memory from the 512MB versions. I will wager that they use the same brand memory on the 1GB versions as well. I will check the speeds and timings on the similar chips. Would it be safe to flash so long as the memory chips are this close?

Re:GeForce 9600 GT 1GB board flashing with 512MB SSC speeds? - 2008/07/29 07:36 Sorry, the three I can read are Qimonda, Hynix and Samsung and may or may not be similar. Enough to flash is sure risky. I would try to at least match vendor.

One thing you need to know and that is that the 1GB version most of the time has different memory chips than the 512MB version so what you did doesn't make any sense. Secondly I can give you at least three the same EVGA cards with GeForce 9600 GT core that have 512MB memory and different memory brand. Yeah, vendors buy the chips that are the less expensive at the time to make their badges of cards and the memory timings will be different, which is justthe issue.

Re:GeForce 9600 GT 1GB board flashing with 512MB SSC speeds? - 2008/07/30 03:28 Okay, it seems I have wasted my time then. Thanks for all the help but it does not seem worth it to bother with this so I can get 3-8 extra frames at the cost of billions of hours spent researching memory brands. I will just save up the money and get whatever the next good card NVIDIA decides to put out. Maybe a GeForce GTX 280 than will not cook food for me. I may even go to the Radeons just kidding, no 12GB Control Center for me. I am not sure what I will get in my birth month September. The GeForce GTX 260 does look appealing...
