Any new RaBiT version coming soon, does anyone have info? - 2008/06/26 00:28 Just wondering if RaBiT will be updated to support the Radeon HD 2xx0 and higher series of graphics cards, the ability to adjust memory timings can prove invaluable.

Well I can repeat the same message as a month ago, work is in progress but the coder has much less time to spend and the coding goes much slower. Yeah, the main reason why is personal stuff and also no real incentive coming from the users really...

Re:Any new RaBiT version coming soon, does anyone have info? - 2008/06/26 19:39 Ah okay. Well, at least work is in progress. I would offer to help but I'm not sure how useful I would be my coding skills lay more around lua than anything like ASCII or HEX.

Re:Any new RaBiT version coming soon, does anyone have info? - 2008/06/26 19:53 I fail to understand why, the coders for both RaBiT and NiBiTor haven't put together a price package to charge for each version they turn out and then this split amongst the readers and especially those who use the downloads section. Maybe a membership fee to use these programs as they take time and that's not free anymore, erm mines not anyway! Would that not cure some woes, maybe we would find that this would create some ambition rather than discouragement, I know the donate tag is there but most don't volunteer to throw money away for stuff ya can get for free.

I donated because I really do support this site, not just for what I can get for nothing, and to donate again just say the word. But I would rather have a price fixed so we know what we paying for and then coders surely getting rewarded for their efforts or train a few of the readers to perform some of this work, make these programs editing software available to the site, then those that wish to try can play with this stuff and maybe we get some improvements and new programs regularly. I mean thats several generations of cards now, that guy is waiting on. So, how much per release? Please...

Re:Any new RaBiT version coming soon, does anyone have info? - 2008/06/27 01:53 Perhaps these programs are produced for free because we are all one big community and prefer to help one another out and the reward in knowing your helping thousands of people is more rewarding than the commercial, all too common physical money reward? I have done countless things to help the community with no charge and my reward was knowing I done something better than the manufacturer could.

Re:Any new RaBiT version coming soon, does anyone have info? - 2008/06/27 03:36 In all honesty, I think the support for these programs would fall apart altogether if you needed to pay for them. The lack of incentive is not monetary I don't think, more just a lack of community involvement and feedback. Usually people will post something like this. I have a problem with artifacts on my new card and I think the BIOS may be corrupted, how can I flash it to another brand? Or this, can someone increase the voltage on my BIOS please?

People aren't willing to try things themselves, they aren't willing to do a simple search for an answer that has been given multiple times, and they want a quick fix for everything. What is needed are these things. More people posting new BIOS's. You can't add support or new features without the BIOS's to get all the information from. More people with feedback on current versions of the software. You can't fix problems you don't know about. This means people have to actually use the software themselves. Yes that is difficult with RaBiT since only Radeon X1K and older cards are supported, but NiBiTor is quite up to date and where is the feedback for v4.2? There are no replies to that thread, and only a couple for v4.1.

Request updates! Being pushy is kind of rude, but sometimes people just don't feel their work is needed because nobody is asking for it. Support the site elsewhere. Link to the site when people have problems, give this forum community a shot of adrenalin. A lot of posters here, the majority in my opinion are one-time posters. They start a thread, they get a few answers, they post back a month later or not at all that their problem was fixed and then they leave. A community can't thrive on this kind of posting same as you would find it difficult to form an international community by sending letters in the mail every so often. It just doesn't work.

Donations, important for keeping the site running of course, but I'm not sure how much impact they would have on the development of these two programs. Anyway, sorry for the long post. I've had my rant for today, feel free to comment or criticise.

Re:Any new RaBiT version coming soon, does anyone have info? - 2008/06/27 06:12 Nice Rant maybe. Yeah, a lot of people stop using oil since it hit $138 a barrel, though I don't know anyone... Being as this the only place I know of to get these programs and the support that accompanies them, I for one will not stop using them even if I have to pay. And I still drive my Chevy 4x4 arg! Peddle to the mettle. This is oil country Canada and nobody works for free here, Tim Horton is paying up to $20 per hour to sling coffee, so back to the real world now, nothing is for free period.

Taking up so much time without reward, monetary or other, must be degrading with time, robbing family life, not the community I'd be part of. Thankless jobs I've had many, so I take the money an run, lol. And I respect these guys more if they did the same. A few post to help a reader is one thing, this type of demand on a persons time is not the same in my opinion.

Re:Any new RaBiT version coming soon, does anyone have info? - 2008/06/27 06:32 I am not saying they don't deserve to be paid, quite the opposite. But software that has to be paid for will be alot less popular. Not only that, but you can expect it to appear on the pirate bay pretty fast too.

Re:Any new RaBiT version coming soon, does anyone have info? - 2008/06/27 06:56 I'm sorry, but to be on pirate bay wouldn't they need updates too, unless they have coders also then some competition arrives. And how many cards does the average joe own one or two, edit BIOS once or twice and see you next year. Me and some others I'm sure have literally dozens of cards and looking at BIOS all the time and downloading new versions. This is, what I call monopoly software, can't get anywhere else so if we have to pay we will, or don't edit BIOS's. Simple as that, or tell me where I can get besides here? Not pirate bay frequent all the time, I expect older versions to appear but that's about it.

Lol, I'm all screwed up. I prefer to pay then I can think I'm getting what I paid for. Then when I don't I got a legit bitch. Oh, then I wouldn't think is so rude to demand the next version shortly after cards are released not 2 months later. The guy has a life I'm sure and I'm with him. I do agree with you and wish we a big happy family, but is a pipe dream and too many people need jobs an this will or could be a job for someone soon. Get your coding skills up to par, it maybe yours. Sorry, I'm to bed, someone else making demands.

Re:Any new RaBiT version coming soon, does anyone have info? - 2008/06/27 07:22 The problem with the pirate bay is that you need one person to purchase the software and then everyone has it. It really is a shame that this sort of thing happens. RaBiT is not monopoly software, there are other programs around which do the same thing or similar, some only for the Radeon HD 3xx0 cards, others for all cards. NiBiTor I think is one of a kind though.
