ForceWare drivers and Crysis game performance comparison? - 2008/06/14 06:50 Well I just wanted to share as well some feedback on the drivers released by NVIDIA lately and go over the actual performance delivered as such by using Crysis. As you know Crysis is really a hard game to get good frame rates so it should show really if difference in drivers do make a difference in gaming performance.

Test System Configuration...
- Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 at 2.7GHz
- Abit AB9 Pro Silent OTES Mainboard
- NoName 2x 1GB DDR2-800 Memory
- GeForce 9600 GT 512MB at 750/1872MHz
- Seagate 7200.10 320GB Hard Disk
- Windows Vista Business 32-bit

ForceWare Drivers Included...
- ForceWare 174.74 (Official)
- ForceWare 175.12 (Beta)
- ForceWare 175.63 (Beta)
- ForceWare 175.70 (Beta)
- ForceWare 175.80 (Beta)
- ForceWare 177.39 (Beta)

Crysis Gaming Settings...
- Resolution : 1440x900
- Image Quality : Default High
- Anti-Aliasing : None
- Anisotropic Filtering : Default High
- Level Precaching : Yes

The default ingame benchmark does 4 runs each time. The results below are the averages of the last 3 runs. The first run usually produces inconsistent results because the level is still being loaded into system memory and this causes some stuttering.

in-Game Crysis - DirectX 9.0c Performance...

in-Game Crysis - DirectX 10.0 Performance...

Re:ForceWare drivers and Crysis game performance comparison? - 2008/06/14 07:00 I said I'd get round to it eventually, but I thought I'd put it in a separate thread because it wasn't really on topic in the first place. If you want I'll make the graphics clickable thumbnails to save alot of space.

Re:ForceWare drivers and Crysis game performance comparison? - 2008/06/22 10:32 Added ForceWare 177.39 drivers. These are currently leaked drivers, not sure if they are going to be the same as the WHQL's so I'll assume they are betas. They require a modded ".inf" to install on most cards. They are pretty awesome for Crysis though.

Re:ForceWare drivers and Crysis game performance comparison? - 2008/06/22 13:36 Thanks for sharing mate, this is some great stuff. If you have updates, just make new posts on this thread instead of editing that way we can clearly get a view on the evolution. But again, very great stuff.

Re:ForceWare drivers and Crysis game performance comparison? - 2008/06/23 06:52 Are all those drivers optimized for Crysis? And if so you have any test result of a driver running Crysis before they optimized them for Crysis? To see the differents better, or am I overlooking something here?

Re:ForceWare drivers and Crysis game performance comparison? - 2008/06/23 08:02 These don't have the water reflection optimisation if that's what you mean. In fact, the last set of drivers I used are more optimised for Folding@Home if anything, since they include CUDA support. I have no test results before ForceWare 174.74, but I would expect poorer frame rates simply because it's logical that earlier drivers won't be as good as current ones.
