Re:Gainward BLISS 9800 GX2 Dual-GPU Graphics Version Review - 2008/06/15 10:55 Well here we are finally with our review of the GeForce 9800 GX2, it did take some time due to some wait for a good power supply with an 8-pin PCI Express power connection. If you like the story, which we hope you do can you just use the digg button and digg it? And as always you can share your though on it with us. Thanks.

Re:Gainward BLISS 9800 GX2 Dual-GPU Graphics Version Review - 2008/06/15 11:32 Digged, though some of the digg buttons lead to the wrong page though. I'm not sure why Gainward chose such a strange image for the card, but that is one nice looking cooler, much sleeker than the crazy plastic thing on my card. I see they used the same Tomb Raider comparison to Intel's 945G on the back of the box as with my card, I really laughed when I saw that considering it is pretty obvious they are using different quality settings.

Nice performance overall. Based on preliminary benchmarks it holds its own well against the GeForce GTX 280 too. It's just too expensive. The GeForce 8800 Ultra is still an incredibly impressive card considering how old it is. It would be nice if you could indicate what level of graphics you used in Crysis. Many reviews leave that out and so the reader needs to go by the frame rates to get an indication. From the look of it you were running on high, but that's just an educated guess.

Okay good that you noticed and that has been fixed now, seems I forgot to update some of the links. And yes, for reference we run normally all games at high or maximum settings, at least for the high-end graphics cards.

Re:Gainward BLISS 9800 GX2 Dual-GPU Graphics Version Review - 2008/06/15 12:03 What happened to the GeForce 9800 GX2 at the highest resolution and anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering settings in Crysis? Just failed to render altogether?

Well it would run at less than 1 frame a second and that means I didn't want to wait a round really as it would take ages to finish, and if we increased more it took already ages before you actually start the benchmark, due to too big rendering buffers.

Re:Gainward BLISS 9800 GX2 Dual-GPU Graphics Version Review - 2008/06/15 13:26 I just realised there were more pages after page ten, doh! That explains why there was no conclusion. I guess the GeForce 8800 Ultra's wider memory bus comes in handy eventually, not that it was playable at those settings either. I can't believe you let it run at only 1.38 frames, I find the benchmark annoyingly long at 30 frames a second. Nice overclock on that too, must be outputting some serious heat with two cards so close to each other, good thing it has a decent cooler.

Well the GeForce 8800 Ultra is able to really use the extra memory allocated to the GPU, while each G92 on the GeForce 9800 GX2 has only got access to 512MB. Well I use a script to run benchmark so I noticed that only when the script did run already and I was doing other stuff. Yeah, it is a good overclock and the heat is still okay actually. And I think it can even be tweaked further.

Re:Gainward BLISS 9800 GX2 Dual-GPU Graphics Version Review - 2008/06/16 01:17 As always I am reading all the reviews and previews as I do like em and they are written so everyone can understand in a very clear and simple explanation. And yes I also digg your stories and since you got those price comparison I am using those when I am planning to buy something that way I think you are getting some return back. Good stuff once again I enjoyed reading it. What is coming up next?

Re:Gainward BLISS 9800 GX2 Dual-GPU Graphics Version Review - 2008/06/16 01:33 Yeah, I'm interested to know what's up next too. Hopefully a review sample and not something you have to buy, and something exciting.
