PNY GeForce 7600 GS 512MB someone to check BIOS tweak? - 2008/06/09 23:43 Can someone check my BIOS modification and tell me if it would be safe to try it or not. I posted the stock BIOS yesterday in the wanted thread. Thanks.

Well I have checked your BIOS and I must conclude that most likely it will work though I don't really know if the voltages that you have added will really work, since you have added extra voltage levels that might not get recognized by the voltage hardware logic of the GeForce 7600 GS graphics card.

Re:PNY GeForce 7600 GS 512MB someone to check BIOS tweak? - 2008/06/10 21:13 I checked the card itself, it is longer than other ones I have looked, and appears to have different voltage hardware than they do. So I thought it might work if I modify it. Also, it is supposed to have DDR2 memory at 800MHz but I can't seem to get it above 670MHz... So I am thinking it might have slower instead. I am unsure because I cannot find the chip numbers anywhere on the internet. Thanks for looking by the way.

If it is longer than other that doesn't mean much really unless the PCB layout with really match the GeForce 7600 GT version, than it would make a difference as the GT version allows higher voltage. That the memory only works at 670MHz maximum will be due to the memory timings, so you might need to find out which TimingSet is active in your BIOS and relax the value in that TimingSet to allow higher clock speed.

Re:PNY GeForce 7600 GS 512MB someone to check BIOS tweak? - 2008/06/11 03:48 Okay, it's using TimingSet 7, which one is more relaxed? And yes, the board looks exactly as a GeForce 7600 GT layout from EVGA and some other boards.

Thanks for the information, so than you might indeed be lucky and able to gain some extra voltage increase and gain more performance. On the TimingSet, you don't select another one as it is not a selection box. Only one TimingSet is active and in your case as you mention this is TimingSet 7, and that means only that TimingSet will be checked and used, the others are the other possible TimingSets that are in the BIOS available and might be active when different memory is used on the card, but you can't change the active TimingSet.

What you now do is view the detailed information of the TimingSet 7 and you adapt the values. Meaning best to adapt only the values on the left side and increase these a bit, but one or two points. Now the best way would be though to first check what kind of memory your graphics card is using meaning to find out the brand and markings on it so we can check the datasheet, cause than we will be able to see which are the advised timing parameters to be used for the different operating modes, meaning memory speeds.

Re:PNY GeForce 7600 GS 512MB someone to check BIOS tweak? - 2008/06/11 20:32 Cool, thank you so much for all your help. The memory chips seem to be from V-Data and the markings as are follows, so this is a more unknown brand as far as I know.

V-Data Graphics Memory...

Re:PNY GeForce 7600 GS 512MB someone to check BIOS tweak? - 2008/06/11 23:14 Thanks for the details mate, though now I am facing an issue as I am not able to find the V-Data website to find out the details and specifications of the graphics memory used on your video card. Does anyone know the website of V-Data, where we can find details about their products?

Re:PNY GeForce 7600 GS 512MB someone to check BIOS tweak? - 2008/06/12 05:35 From what I know from my own searching, the ram is actually made by A-Data Technology. I still can't find the part number though...

Yeah that is also what I have found but somehow I doubt it a bit as you can't find any details about graphics memory on their website. And really all the memory brands have specific pages about just graphics memory as it is different from the normal system memory. So we will have to check further on this...
