Re:Radeon HD 3870 X2, flashing BIOS and made a huge mistake? - 2008/05/21 20:25 That is cool, and I guess your friends graphics card is still working which allows us to find out much faster which is which BIOS. How did your friend make the backups? Cause it would be best that this is done from a bootable DOS media, like a floppy disk or USB memory stick. So if you use the commands below first to backup and then check which BIOS is which, to allow to flash back the correct BIOS to the correct GPU.

ATIFlash v3.xx Commands...
"atiflash -s 0 backup1.rom" (Backup Original BIOS 1th GPU)
"atiflash -s 1 backup2.rom" (Backup Original BIOS 2nd GPU)

Re:Radeon HD 3870 X2, flashing BIOS and made a huge mistake? - 2008/05/21 22:55 The files attached to my last post were the two BIOS files grabbed by GPU-Z. The 43kb one is the master and the 64kb one the slave. Do we still need the DOS backup or would the GPU-Z one be safe?

If you would read again my last message I don't need the BIOS's, but you need to know which BIOS is the slave or master linked to the GPU and that you can only determine using the DOS method as with that command you get to know which BIOS is linked to which GPU so you can reflash the correct BIOS to the correct GPU, if you don't know that you will not be able to resolve your issue.

Re:Radeon HD 3870 X2, flashing BIOS and made a huge mistake? - 2008/05/23 02:43 Hi, sorry I misunderstood what you were saying. The good news is that my card is now back up and running. Adapter 0 is the master (40kb) and adapter 1 is the slave (60kb). Thanks for the help.

Great stuff, thanks for the feedback and update. I am glad that it is working for you and that you have been able to restore you graphics card. Have a lot of fun with it.
