Compal IFL90 laptop, a mobile GeForce 8600 GT BIOS dump? - 2008/02/24 15:21 Hello, I have a Compal IFL90 laptop with a GeForce 8600 GT 512MB on MXM II module. I can't read the BIOS with the latest NiBiTor or nvFlash. But I could make a video BIOS dump with PC Wizard 2008. Is it possible to make this BIOS work with NiBiTor and/or nvFlash? And it it possible to make changes to this BIOS? So I can lower the voltage a bit to save some battery time.

As we have said previously as well PC Wizard 2008 is not able to mlake a real BIOS dump as it dumps a textual BIOS info and that is not an actual BIOS as it contains too much information and that is not workable at all. So the only to get the BIOS dump is to find a way to dump it via nvFlash somehow...

Re:Compal IFL90 laptop, a mobile GeForce 8600 GT BIOS dump? - 2008/02/25 23:22 I get this message from nvFlash while trying to make the backup, adapter GeForce 8600 GT and then EEPROM ID (20:00) unknown. And with NiBiTor it show device ID 6330 as unsupported and with vendor unknown. And the file only contains 0050306300 hex. Does this help?

Re:Compal IFL90 laptop, a mobile GeForce 8600 GT BIOS dump? - 2008/02/25 23:30 Well it doesn't help us much as we are not the coders of nvFlash, cause that is a tool directly developed by NVIDIA. Now it does show that it found that card which is already something, but with laptop graphics it has always been a hard time to backup the BIOS. If you can actually get to the card with NiBiTor can you provide the backup of the BIOS, by just saving it to a file? Cause even if the card is unsupported if the BIOS is okay we can see to add the support to the next version of NiBiTor.

Sorry not good yet, so I have removed the BIOS as it was not a good one and didn't have all what was required and missing data. To make sure no one would be using this it has been removed. I could be that somehow the BIOS is a bit integrated with the system BIOS and than it is very hard to extract it.
