GeForce 9800 GTX and fan speed control via BIOS feasible? - 2008/05/17 19:38 Hey, I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find anything about it, I want to set my fan speed to always run at 75%, is there a way to fix this through BIOS? What else besides RivaTuner or EVGA Prescision Tool can I use that is permanent like a BIOS, thanks.

Re:GeForce 9800 GTX and fan speed control via BIOS feasible? - 2008/05/17 23:28 Mmm, well no software will set it permanently really cause as soon as you don't use the software it would just be going back to the default value in the BIOS really. So the only way it to do it via the BIOS and currently we are still working on that so you can adapt the fan speed via NiBiTor. But that will come in one of the upcoming version, though which one we don't know as we have several enhancements upcoming and really don't see many users really supporting us and giving us much credit nor a good push for doing more as we do now.

Re:GeForce 9800 GTX and fan speed control via BIOS feasible? - 2008/05/18 01:25 Man are you kidding me, you guys are great man, without you guys alot of people wouldn't know how to do a lot of things, well it sucks people don't give credit where its due, but I give you guys and a lot of software developers that do work for free for us enthusiasts a lot of credit and props for making such great and useful tools. I've been using this website for many years and hope you guys keep on doing what your doing and bringing us some good updates, best of luck to you guys!

Re:GeForce 9800 GTX and fan speed control via BIOS feasible? - 2008/05/18 05:57 What kind of support are you after, other than donations of course? There are quite a few BIOS editors out there for ATI cards, but NiBiTor is the only well known NVIDIA BIOS editor that I can think of. Just google NVIDIA BIOS editor and you get pages of NiBiTor links and nothing else.

Re:GeForce 9800 GTX and fan speed control via BIOS feasible? - 2008/05/18 11:02 Thanks, to both of you. Though support does mean a lot of things being either just sharing with us your thoughts on NiBiTor, and not only the bad things which most often is not something with NiBiTor at all but NVIDIA being again more strict on what the BIOS can and can't do. But it also means getting more visits, and yes donations. If I go back for now and look at the donations it is like two or three a year. And yeah support mainly does come down to motivation, seeing more guys talking about it and challenging us and saying what is so good about it an dlast but not the least sharing your original BIOS's as that is still not really done as a first reflex.

Re:GeForce 9800 GTX and fan speed control via BIOS feasible? - 2008/05/18 13:30 Right now I can't use NiBiTor that much because it apparently doesn't support fan control for my GeForce 9600 GT, although I haven't actually tried it. I also can't set my GPU voltage any higher than 1.10V which is default anyway so it's not going to allow me to clock any higher either. As for donations, well I'm an university student with a part time job trying to pay for price gouged textbooks so that's not really an option for me.

So the only way I can really support the site is by posting, which I do nearly every day. Even if I don't post, I still visit the site like 5 times a day. Yes, I should probably be studying but that would be putting in too much effort and would make me un-Australian. We are a lazy lot. As an unrelated side note, I've noticed that you don't like my rather common use of brackets in my posts.

Re:GeForce 9800 GTX and fan speed control via BIOS feasible? - 2008/05/26 22:10 No problem mate, you are already doing a great job in visiting and actively participating to our forums which is very great and highly appreciated. And yeah we are still working on the fan speed control support but it takes time as not so easy to get all the information to allow the modification in the BIOS. But we are working on that.
