Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/05/16 11:13 Okay, here's a copy of my BIOS. I've searched through the downloads section, but the only 62.92.24.x version BIOS's I can find are for the EVGA version, which don't work.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/05/16 13:07 As mentioned in several post it is said the version as of 62.92.24.x and up. So you have to check a bit further as you will find more that have even a higher number like 62.92.27.x and so on. So just try all the GeForce 8800 GT's as of the version and newer.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/05/16 16:31 Here...

I've done the work for you. 62.92.27.00.00 edited to
match the backup bios you attached, like for like
in memory timings, memory speed and voltage
boxes. The device ID's also match...

I've been very careful to edit the bios to match
your backup one.

If this bios doesn't work, then theres something
else awry.

*NOTE*

This BIOS version on at least one of my machines gives
S3 Standby/Resume issues that have just come to light
( 18/06/08 ). Please use 62.92.24.00.01 evga version if
possible for the PCIe workaround, since I havent found
any issues with that particular version.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/05/21 02:17 The BIOS version 62.92.27.x is tested and working with Gen1 motherboards? Did someone tested it? Which BIOS is tested and working? I tried tested version 62.92.24.x and didn't work with my nForce 4 chipset. Thanks and sorry for my English.

All the BIOS as of version 62.92.24.x have the PCI Express compatibitity fix and that means to resolve the problem with the VIA chipsets which are not following the PCI Express specifications to the letter. On the nForce 4 chipset which is of NVIDIA there should be no issue as such with the PCI Express compatibility. And for the reference we wouldn't list the BIOS versions that work if it wasn't tried before. The only thing that is changing now is the brand of memory chips use giving some issues, which is just normal as they have different memory timings.

I know that some nForce 4 motherboard users have this compatibility problem too. My GeForce 8800 GT with 62.92.24.x BIOS in other motherboard is working but in my ASUS A8N32-SLI it is not. I will try last 62.92.27.x BIOS. Thanks for your reply.

Okay, it is possible though that is not normal and I think from experience it should be solved with a BISO upgrade for the mainboard really as the nForce 4 chipset is normally following the PCI Express specifications very well, unless the manufacturer did something funky with the mainboard.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/06/02 00:54 Hi, I have been reading on the forrums on this but I don't think you have it, I am looking for the BFG GeForce 8800 GT 512MB version BIOS to work on PCI Express Gen1 motherboard, more specifically the ABIT AX8 with VIA chipset. Of course, I have the original backup of the BIOS in case you want it. Thanks.

First of all, yes we do want your original BIOS, so indeed if you have made a backup then please share it with us by attaching it on this thread. Second, if we don't have the BFG version, than you have two options. Either you contact BFG technical support and ask them for the newest BIOS for your card, as it has PCI Express compatibility issues currently or you can use any other brands BIOS, as long as the version is as of 62.92.24.x or higher.
