Bought myself an XpertVision GeForce 8800 GT 512MB, against my wifes will due to cost and currently own an ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA mainboard with VIA chipset. When I plugged in my sparkling new GeForce 8800GT, yip you guessed it nothing! Sent at least five to six emails to both XpertVision and Palit but got nothing back from them.
I read in many forums regarding the PCI Express 2.0 backward compatibility problem and the need to flash it with a Gen1 PCI Express BIOS. So I did it. Got a display again with the ASUS Gen1 BIOS however, every driver I tried installing seemed to give me a flashing screen with red pixel stripes and the computer would hang. So I guess I need some help and advice on how to solve it.
Oh also if anyone has a backup of the original BIOS for the XpertVision GeForce 8800 GT 512MB and if possible a Gen1 BIOS they managed to get working could you please post em. Thanks in advance and cheers...

Your post has been moved to the thread all about this issue and we can tell you all of these have been able to fix their card to work on a VIA chipset and so will you. What would be good if we could have your original BIOS, cause that would give us a good pointer in helping you further. But you can try the latest BIOS posted on the previous pages and those should work for you...

Euh, if you would read a bit more pages you would have noticed that it is already confirmed that all GeForce 8800 GT BIOS's with a version as of 62.92.24.x and higher have the fix in place to support the GeForce 8800 GT on any VIA chipset.

What I was asking was could someone that uses a different brand of the GeForce 8800 GT card confirm that flashing it with the latest BIOS files posted a few posts back got it working in say a XFX or a Gainward version of the GeForce 8800 GT or will any GeForce 8800 GT 512MB BIOS work in any other make of the same card?

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/03/18 23:28Correct and no I didn't misunderstood at all, but I have actually participated on this thread on almost every new post added and you can any brands BIOS which is of version 62.92.24.x or higher and yoru card will work fine on the VIA chipset. So that means you can use the EVGA BIOS's on it which where actually the first that has the fix. So yes you can flash with whatever BIOS that has a version as of 62.92.24.x or higher to get your card working fine on a VIA chipset.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/03/20 02:46Well XpertVision and/or Palit have a horrible technical support in my opinion, yes the 62.92.24.x or up BIOS version will boot this card but you must lower the memory clock to 1600MHz to play, maybe because it's 3-phase design. I have contacted Palit three times and no answer at all...

Just would like to know cause all who who has flashed that we know of with the newer BIOS versions didn't lower any memory speed to play games... So I would somehow think you have a problem with either your card or even system.

My GeForce 8800 GT card run just fine in other computer, I played Crysis till I was bored, just to make this card crash. But it never happened. In other hand my computer run just fine with an ATI Radeon HD 3850. But when you combine these two bang! The green dot show-up just in 10 second after play Crysis. If I flash with other brand the card crash after install the driver only the NVIDIA BIOS that works.
