Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any ways to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/01/11 21:25Great stuff mate, and thanks for the BIOS. We just hope that soon we will have a solution to also downgrade the newer BIOS to become Gen1 compatible but for the moment we haven't got any details nor if it is possible. Thanks also for the kind comments and your original BIOS.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any ways to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/01/11 21:33Hi, I had the same problem with an EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GT SuperClocked. It did not work with my mainboard and it was because the VIA chipset wasn't compatible with Gen2 BIOS... I flashed my video card using nvFlash with a Gen1 BIOS. Actually I just downloaded the Rev.02 BIOS of this card which was the one I could modify to Gen1 and problem solved!
It works perfect with my mainboard, an MSI K9VGM-V having a VIA K8M890 chipset. So if you have this problem you can just do the and I can give you some help... And if you are afraid to screw up your video card don't worry there won't be any problem to flash it as long as you do it well with the correct BIOS and instructions...

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any ways to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/01/11 21:59Excellent, thanks also for your feedback. This is very great and really does proof that what we are doing with NiBiTor is having quite some value. So for all those with a mainboard not working fine with a Gen2 BIOS, just see to flash a Gen1 BIOS and it should just work okay... Of course we are still checking to get the Gen1 tweak working for newer BIOS's as well.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any ways to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/01/15 22:41Hi guys got the latest official EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GT 512MB normal BIOS with version 62.92.24.00.01. EVGA state this BIOS corrects problems that people are having with Gen2 BIOS. So I think this is an official Gen1 BIOS from EVGA.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any ways to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/01/16 08:50Excellent, thanks mate. So now we should just need to know that this BIOS really works fine as Gen1, so we do need someone who can try this out and provide their feedback. But it is good that we have such an extra BIOS to check what is changing. The best would also be to have the Gen2 BIOS of the same version...

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any ways to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/01/18 12:24I had a reply from XFX regarding the GeForce 8800 GT 256MB Alpha Dog edition. They said it isn't possible to change the BIOS to Gen1 and recommend buying a new motherboard. Alternatively, I could get a 512MB version of the card which can have the BIOS changed. I've asked them to explain why the 256MB BIOS can't change when the 512MB version can.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any ways to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/01/18 13:23Very strange indeed... Cause it doesn't make sense that it can be done for the 512MB version but not for the 256MB that is. But well I wouldn't really delay much more if they will replace your 256MB version for a 512MB, then just go for it... I guess they offer this with no or a small cost?

Strange, I got a message from them saying they would tell me when the BIOS was ready, not that there cannot be a BIOS, very strange...

Have you heard anything new on that, cause it seems that the XFX support is somehow split according to these two feedbacks... Sounds strange indeed but it should be possible cause the cards are really the same except the memory normally. So maybe see if they have some news for you?

Here is the message I recieved from them, thanks for your response and for letting us know. Can you confirm if your mainboard has a VIA chipset? Hope all goes well, however if any queries or problems please keep us posted... So I have responded, yes, my mainboard has a VIA chipset, thanks any idea when the BIOS will be ready?
And gotten back, thanks for your message, there should be a BIOS available soon and we will let you know when we have one available. This shows they know about the problem and are working on a BIOS, strange that hey would say there cannot be one...
