Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2007/12/15 10:03Any idea why with my BIOS of the Sparkle GeForce 8800 GT Rev02 it is not possible to set Gen1 option in NiBiTor? The options are greyed out!

Or do I need to find it somewhere else? There are no Gen1 BIOS's on our downloads section, the only place where you will find them is on this thread. And for the BFG we haven't got any yet so please provide a copy of the original BFG BIOS on this thread and we will take a look what can be done.

Only on the first BIOS versions we have found how to tune these back to Gen1 while currently these cards come with newer version of the BIOS and we are still trying to find out what has changed on the BIOS as quite some changes where made. So the best thing to help is to your own original BIOS of your Sparkle card and then all is about patience to let us try and get the correct tweak redone for these new BIOS's...

And BIOS sent. By the way some bits are different from the Sparkle GeForce 8800 GT posted here on the downloads section, but the date and version are the same... Thank you for your help!

At the same time do also contact MSI as the more that contact their manufacturer the more of those will give that feedback to NVIDIA and then they might do something about it. I've done that...and the reply was... Thank you for your support. This card is PCI Express 2.0 version, if your motherbaoard is PCI Express 1.0 version, you can also use it on this motherboard, but it maybe run at a lower performance.

Mmm, well then you go back to them and you tell them that you got a PCI Express 1.0 mainboard but that the card is not working and specify which mainboard you have and which chipset and that it is know that VIA chipsets have problems with the PCI Express 2.0 downtune to PCI Express 1.0 but that you heard that NVIDIA has BIOS versions that can fix this, and they you now would like that BIOS from them. If that doesn't do anything you mail me the last email and contact details and I will see what we can do.

If you want it to work now, then you are best to use the older Sparkle BIOS version, and that one I we are able to tune down for the PCI Express 1.0 compatibility. And to help you, I have done it for you. Now if you want to use your newer BIOS, then you will have to wait till we figure it out on that BIOS, but your card should just work with this older version.

Thank you! I tried a minute ago, flash is oayk, PC used to flash boots okay, and checked firmware flash with NiBiTor, all okay. Unfortunately the system in which I wish to mount the GeForce 8800 GT still doesn't boot. The system is a Shuttle Barebone SN25P, nForce 4 Ultra motherboard and very powerful power supply, for example old GeForce 8800 GTS runs flawlessly...
This incompatibility is very strange to me, any ideas? The GPU fan always stays at maximum during boot and no outpunt is sent to video. The slot is a normal PCI Express 16x full version and I think it is version 1.0a.

So please also contact TwinTech to ask, so that they get extra feedback and we will see to contact NVIDIA directly... Many thanks for having taken the time to check. Much appreciated. I will contact TwinTech as well and let you know if there's any update about it from them. Thanks again...

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2007/12/16 06:25Well let me start for everyone can understand. I'm Brazilian and have a problem with my new graphics card which is an ASUS Extreme N8800 GT. My PC configuration is an AMD Athlon FX55 on an MSI K8N Neo4-F mainboard with Zalman 460W power supply and Windows Vista Home. Before I bought this ASUS Extreme N8800 GT I used an EVGA e-GeForce 7950 GT KO 512MB and this works perfect! Well I put the ASUS at slot and problems start. My PC doesn't turn on...
I tried three times and nothing at 4th this start and I have a high speed fan and nothing at screen, but PC looks like on but nothing happens. I put the EVGA e-GeForce 7950GT KO back and this work, I come and found this forum and see some guy talking about take the PCI Express power off and turn on when a long beep comes. I do it and the PC turn on with ASUS Extreme N8800 GT. Well for me that's okay... I install a game, play for while and turn off the PC to take a shower, when I back I got the same problem...
I do all again, take the PCI Express power cable off and put when PC runs. Well anyone have any idea what is wrong? It's my mainboard MSI K8N Neo4-F? I check all with update and my mainboard BIOS have all updates. I need some something with my graphics card? I bought it today, I wait for some help... Thanks.
