Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/06/05 13:21 Thanks for your help guys, it is really appreciated, please find attached the original BIOS of my BFG GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB OC edition. Also the updated BIOS from BFG. This last one has several files in the zip document, and I don't know what to do with them. I tried to execute it from a bootable Ms DOs disk without succes. BFG told me to type "flash" from the bootable disk. not working too. I always have the dad command or file name reply. Can you help me? Thanks...

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/06/05 13:28 Here is the original BIOs from my BFG graphics card. The updated zip file is too big for your permitted file size, so how can I send it to you?

If you can sent the update that BFG has sent you, than I will certainly be able to help you. So just email it to me and I will check it and work with you to check it out and see that you can flash that new BIOS to your graphics card.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/06/07 04:39 Forget it, I wrote to BFG about my problem to update the driver and finally they said sorry, it is our mistake, we sent you the wrong file, there is no BIOS fix for Gen1 for the GeForce 8800 GTS OC 512MB edition, great! The BIOS that I have right now on my card is your BIOS version 62.92.24.x and it is working. But I still can't upgrade de driver, I get the message the NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. I uninstalled all the drivers I found and I used Driver Sweeper and Driver Cleaner in safe mode to remove all remaining trace of driver. What can I do more? Thank you very much again.

Hold on, cause we really need to get this right and you are really giving some mismatching info. First of all this thread is about the GeForce 8800 GT, and not really the GTS. Now that isn't such a big deal though I would like to know which BIOS you than flashed to your BFG card? Cause we don't have a specific BFG version 62.92.24.x BIOS for your GeForce 8800 GTS on our downloads section. So can you clarify, and then we might figure out why the drivers don't work really. And still I would like those files that BFG has sent you, so can you still mail those to me? Thanks.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/06/07 14:01 Sure I'll send it to you but I can't see your email address anymore, send it to me again. I flashed my card with this the EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GT BIOS which has a version 62.92.24.00.01 that I found on this tread. Just to clarify, my card is BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC edition. Hope it makes more sense.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/06/07 14:08 And well what you are doing doesn't really make much sense cause you got a G92 based GeForce 8800 GTS and not a GT, so why would you want a GT BIOS on it? And yes, it seems that NVIDIA is running a but behind or BFG maybe as there should be also a fixed BIOS for the GeForce 8800 GTS in the end, cause it is just a similar fix as they did with the GT versions.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/06/07 14:12 Maybe you need this info as well, I tried 2 drivers found on BFG site, the ForceWare 175.16 and by reading on some other forums, some said that the next driver was working for some similar problem as I used the ForceWare 169.21. But it is still not working in my case. Also I tried the 175.16 driver from the EVGA site as well but same negative result.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/06/07 23:17 I recently purchased a PNY GeForce 8800 GT 512MB. My problem is after I installed it, nothing is displayed on my monitor. As if it just wasn't plugged in or something. I searched around a bit and found out that it could possibly be my mainboard. I use an ABIT IP-95 and I guess the board has a known problem with PCI Express 2.0 cards. After posting for some help about my mainboard, I got a response that said to come here and redo the BIOS. Now, I have no clue what to do with all this graphics card BIOS stuff, and that's where I need the help.

Now that I'm here, whats my next step? Oh, by the way, before I purchased the GeForce 8800 GT card, I had picked up a GeForce 8800 GTS. It worked amazingly up until I realized my power supply just couldn't handle it. So I had to get the GT so I could use the rest of my money on a new power supply. My question is, why in the world did the GeForce 8800 GTS card work perfectly, but yet the GeForce 8800 GT won't display due to conflicts? Thanks!

Well it makes no sense at all, why would you really think about flashing a GeForce 8800 GTS with a GT BIOS while these two cards might feature the same G92 chip, the GT has a chip that is cripled down and also less good memory clocks. In the end you are even lucky the card still works, cause we have seen others where it made their card useless and had to reflash.

Maybe you need this info as well, I tried 2 drivers found on BFG site, the ForceWare 175.16 and by reading on some other forums, some said that the next driver was working for some similar problem as I used the ForceWare 169.21. But it is still not working in my case.
The drivers don't matter at all and if you would have read a bit more in this thread you would know that this is a hardware issue that is impacting almost all the VIA chipsets due to a bad implementation of the PCI Express feature which is not completely following the specifications. So the only why to fix that is either VIA is gearing up to invest money and comes with a fix, though we know that is not going to happen or NVIDIA works some magic, as they did with the GeForce 8800 GT versions.
