I have bought an Inno3D GeForce 8800 GT 512MB now. I have an ABIT AX8 v2.0 motherboard with a VIA K8T890 Pro chipset and when I start the computer it's sounds three beeps and shows only black screen. My question is can you send me a Gen1 Inno3D BIOS or I can use the ASUS Gen1 BIOS? Can I use the NiBiTor to flash the BIOS and how can I do that? Thanks for the answers, cheers.

First of all flashing from within Windows isn't a very good idea for NVIDIA based cards, so with NiBiTor you won't be able to do that. Flashing you do from a bootabme Ms-DOS media with nvFlash. Now before I want to answer your questions, can you use NiBiTor to make a backup of the original BIOS of your card and share it with us? Just use the read BIOS function and attach the BIOS on this thread. Thanks.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT, and any way to edit out PCI Express 2.0? - 2008/04/03 14:43I have an ASRock 4Core-VSTA motherboard, and was aware of the problems with the GeForce 8800 GT, but went ahead and bought one, thinking this issue would be resolved as a standard by now. Big mistake... Anyway, I bought an XFX GeForce 8800 GT 512MB model with 600MHz core clock. The reason I mention the model number is because, after reading this and other forums, I contacted XFX for information on this issue and they replied that there was no updated BIOS file for this particular model.
So I guess I'll go ahead and try setting the original BIOS to Gen1 or use another that can be set to Gen1 if that fails. My only question is this, if I am forced to use another BIOS, what would you recommend? Should I use an updated BIOS from another vendor with a number higher than 62.92.24.x or use one from XFX I found here that can be set to Gen1? Thanks for all your work, info and support.

Well I would say currently not to go back to the older BIOS's and then using the Gen1 function as that is outdated. Now what you should do first is backup the BIOS and also get us a copy and after that use one of the newer 62.92.24.x or higher BIOS's and flash your graphics card and that should solve the issue. And just for info, XFX is not really consistent with their responses...

Their response to my request was basically crap, like they didn't even read the whole thing. I'll go with your suggestion and flash a 62.92.24.x or higher BIOS. And yes, I'll also post the original. If you are using a BIOS of another brand or another version or too many changes also linked to the device ID you will need to use the forced method as the other will just not flash at all but stop before flashing due to a mismatch.

Well having checked the BIOS it is an older one with not yet the PCI Express compatibility fix, so I would suggest to get one of the newe 62.92.24.x or newer BIOS and use that on your Inno3D card, and that should work on the VIA chipset. I think we have on this thread several, and I would suggest EVGA as a good brand.
