GeForce 9600 GT, power supply with 12V rails give 32Amps? - 2008/05/05 06:30I have a source of 450W and tells me in the specifications which has a line of 12V and 16Amps, my question is if I can put my GeForce 9600 GT card with this source? Because I see that the box says you need 26Amps, but the power adapter needs two lines of 12V's would be 32Amps I recommend? Thanks to all! And forgive my poor English, I'm from Venezuela...

Re:GeForce 9600 GT, power supply with 12V rails give 32Amps? - 2008/05/05 07:50It would be great if you showed us a picture of the power supply label, or at least what brand and model it is. The box says 26Amps, but that is a recommendation based on total system power consumption, not just for the card. No single card could pull that much power.

Re:GeForce 9600 GT, power supply with 12V rails give 32Amps? - 2008/05/05 14:38I do not have at this time a photo of the box on the video card, but the mark is PNY and you leave the link so you can see the minimum requirements. The requirements stipulate a minimum 400W or greater system power supply with 12V current rating of 26Amps. Why is my doubt, require a source who has 26Amps per line of 12V's or mine that I put together two 12V lines that have the connector would be 32Amps. Thanks!

Re:GeForce 9600 GT, power supply with 12V rails give 32Amps? - 2008/05/05 19:11Well just for information, you don't need 26Amps for the GeForce 9600 GT really. Just for reference I have a GeForce 8800 Ultra which says a minimum 400W system power supply with 12V current rating of 30Amps and my power supply is only given two 12V rails of each 16Amps. So I would say yes, if you combine the two 12V rails it will be just fine with your power supply.

Re:GeForce 9600 GT, power supply with 12V rails give 32Amps? - 2008/05/06 01:17Thanks for the responses, so that if I was reading so it seems there is no problem I suppose that the card will have a voltage regulator which only lets you choose the 12V and Amps needed to operate. thank everyone for the attention. Now just out of curiosity would be good to stay with that of 450W or do you recommend that I buy a fountain with more watts?

Re:GeForce 9600 GT, power supply with 12V rails give 32Amps? - 2008/05/06 06:42My power supply has four lines of 12V with each having 16Amps plus a floppy connector and those who are going to the motherboard. The adapter that I will use is combining two 12V rails together into one 6-pin PCI Express power connection to power the graphics card.

Re:GeForce 9600 GT, power supply with 12V rails give 32Amps? - 2008/05/06 11:02I think you are talking about the cables. There is no way a 450W power supply has four 16Amps strong 12V rails. Maybe if it was a 700W, but not a 450W. All of those cables draw power from the same source, which can only supply 16A maximum. It doesn't matter how many cables come from the power supply. As I said before, the brand and model would be helpful, both should be on the label. I don't need a picture, just tell me the brand and model.

Re:GeForce 9600 GT, power supply with 12V rails give 32Amps? - 2008/05/06 14:19The brand power is Rhycom and the model is ATX 450W if you need something else please ask. As you leave here, as specified by the source of power. The features mention that it has 450 Watts maximum output and complies with ATX 2.03. And the specifications highlight on the website I found the +12V rail at 15Amps and listing ATX 12V connector quantity just one.

Re:GeForce 9600 GT, power supply with 12V rails give 32Amps? - 2008/05/06 16:59Well I cleaned up the thread as too much unneeded stuff and duplications, so just to highlight get a new power supply that comes with its onw 12V rails for PCI Express, cause this one will not make it at all as it is too low as specifications with the 12V rail only giving 15Amps as a total, so that connector combining will not give more than 15Amps.

Re:GeForce 9600 GT, power supply with 12V rails give 32Amps? - 2008/05/06 18:33So I feared, and here in my country the power suppplies with PCI express connector are very expensive, because we have a few quotas of dollars a year and these can not be more than 400. But if I can't connect my video card with these two connectors, then as if Mavke could connect his card with less than Amps asking nd did so with the same adapter I use that?
