Re:GeForce 8800 GT and anti-aliasing bug needing BIOS tweak? - 2008/04/26 08:59 Well, only the nvFlash files were in a folder, the BIOS is a ".bin" file and it wasn't in a folder... So what could be the issue?

Re:GeForce 8800 GT and anti-aliasing bug needing BIOS tweak? - 2008/04/27 04:32 If I understand you correctly, I see your problem. You navigated to the folder which contains the nvFlash program, and then you ran the program without picking the directory where the BIOS file is. The program assumes by default that the BIOS file is in the same location as itself. So if the BIOS file is in a different directory to nvFlash you need to either move the BIOS to the same spot or you need to specify where the BIOS file is when running nvFlash. It's simpler just to move the BIOS file to the same location as nvFlash.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT and anti-aliasing bug needing BIOS tweak? - 2008/04/27 12:05 Well actually both the BIOS file and the nvFlash files are in the same drive "C" in my case. In fact I have put both of them in the same folder too. Now what.

Since I am back from my business trip I can see that even though you are new to all this you are just making a big mess out of these things. So what you need to do it either tool a floppy disk or an USB memory stick and you make sure you format it so that it becomes a bootable DOS media. Once that is done you put nvFlash and the BIOS on it and you boot your system from that media. And do rename the BIOS as given in the below commands.

nvFlash v5.xx Commands...
"nvflash -5 -6 newbios.rom" (Normal BIOS Flash)
"nvflash -4 -5 -6 newbios.rom" (Forced BIOS Flash)

Re:GeForce 8800 GT and anti-aliasing bug needing BIOS tweak? - 2008/04/28 17:30 I was using a bootable CD to flash the BIOS, and whenever I reboot it opens Caldera DOS. Nothing mentioning nvFlash firmware opens up. Okay, I'll try using my pendrive then and I'll format it and put the nvFlash and BIOS on it, then set boot priority to USB. That's all right? Or something else need be done? Another thing, I am not making a big mess out of this thing dude, am just trying to solve my problem. Many people have fixed this anti-aliasing problem using the BIOS fix!

Well that Caldera stuff is because you used a Dell boot image, which I don't know why you did that cause flashing with a bootable CD is so annyoing. Just take a floppy or a USB drive and try as such, much easier and there you can just put plain and simple Ms-DOS on it, which is much better.

Another thing, I am not making a big mess out of this thing dude, am just trying to solve my problem. Many people have fixed this anti-aliasing problem using the BIOS fix!
Don't start an argument, as you very clause of going just that one step too far. First of all, you came to our forums and claim you have an issue with the anti-aliasing and just frankly won't believe us, secondly you state your friend has fixed it with a BIOS flash, so you could just have done the same with some help from your friend. And lastly, I am not convinced at all that this BIOS is really a fix and we have asked alread to share the BIOS so we can check it, but haven't seen it yet. So fine if you want to start a discussion, but first do all we ask? It is very easy, and we just look for that... And after that we can really say if the BIOS flash is a way forward or not, that's it...

Re:GeForce 8800 GT and anti-aliasing bug needing BIOS tweak? - 2008/04/29 18:46 I am sorry mate if you felt like that, I don't want to start an arguement really. I am posting the original BIOS and the tweaked BIOS. The original BIOS is the MSI and the other one is tweaked by a professional. And another one is my friends Gainward BIOS. Sorry but at the moment I don't have a pendrive or floppy. Could you please please give me a link to the proper boot image file which I can download from the web? Thank you.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT and anti-aliasing bug needing BIOS tweak? - 2008/04/29 18:49 Another thing mate, I know it sounds logical to just ask my friend how he did it but the thing is I live in India and he lives in Sweden, so gets a little hard to converse. Because we only chat through the NVIDIA forums and email, but I was suggested this site so thats why I brought you my problem.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT and anti-aliasing bug needing BIOS tweak? - 2008/05/03 12:29 Well I have checked all the BIOS's you have supplied and the so called tweaked version is just a standard though older MSI GeForce 8800 GT OC edition BIOS that you can just find on our downloads section. So I don't see why that would fix anything really linked to anti-aliasing. But I have spend enough time on it and you just don't believe the BIOS has nothing to do with it really, as it doesn't control such features.

Re:GeForce 8800 GT and anti-aliasing bug needing BIOS tweak? - 2008/05/03 16:45 Okay mate, you are probably right but I'd still give it a go. I have got nothing to lose. Could you please give me the link to the proper boot image file please? Thank you!
