GeForce 8800 GT and anti-aliasing bug needing BIOS tweak? - 2008/04/15 17:47 Hey guys, I have an MSI GeForce 8800 GT card which is having anti-aliasing problems in it. Its like even though I set the value to 16x quality it is not rendering that much anti-aliasing in games that do not have an in game anti-aliasing option there is practically none at all. I have tried numerous drivers but to no available. Then my friend having a Gainward card with the same problem got that fixed by having his BIOS tweaked by a friend. So can anyone help me out please? I would like to modify my BIOS...

The only problem is I'm a newbie when it comes to BIOS's and I don't know how to backup my BIOS or even flash the BIOS... I'll need some very detailed step by step instructions from guys! Please do help me guys, I have payed soo much for my card but am not getting its benefits. You guys are my last resort!

You then run one of these programs and you can backup the original BIOS with the function provided. Save the BIOS as a file and upload it on this thread.

Maybe your friend thought the BIOS modification fixed the problem, but it was just co-incidence. Oh well, I'll let somebody else deal with this because it's beyond me.

First of all I would like to state that it would be nice if you really type all the words fully, so that also none English speaking can understand what you are writting. Secondly thanks already for the help given by DarkFox for getting the BIOS backup of the graphics card. And now, what I can tell you is that I would really check first with your friend, cause you stated it was fixed for him with a modified BIOS? But is it really? Re:GeForce 8800 GT and anti-aliasing bug needing BIOS tweak? - 2008/04/17 05:47 In my opinion, if the BIOS did fix his card, then it was using a faulty BIOS to start with and should have been replaced. It does sound strange that the BIOS could affect something as specfic as antialiasing, that is the driver's job to control. The BIOS merely get's the card going at its default low-level parameters. Without drivers, it really can't do that much.

We all thought its the drivers fault until we cracked the case, it is the problem in the BIOS. Many people are having this problem, we tried out numerous drivers. Modded drivers with ".inf" files but in the end we are 100% convinced this is a BIOS problem. Please help, thank you!

I don't have time to read that thread right now, but I'll get to it later. I don't know what in the BIOS could be modded to fix a problem like this, but maybe the answer is in that thread. Me smiles at his fully functional GeForce 9600 GT.
