Inno3D GeForce 8800 GT, some help as death after flashing!? - 2008/03/24 22:59Hi there. First of all, sorry for my English spelling. Well I tried to flash my Inno3D GeForce 8800 GT and it died, now I got a black screen and it won't boot. I've tried to make a USB key to boot from, with a "autoexec.bat" file to do the flash back. But the computer won't boot with the card in the slot, now I have a GeForce 7600 in my computer, and I've put the other GeForce 8800 GT in the second slot. Is there any way to flash it back?

Re:Inno3D GeForce 8800 GT, some help as death after flashing!? - 2008/03/25 14:20Just wondering what you tried exactly and for what reason, cause flashing you would only do when it is needed and when you know what you are doing, or know what you tweaked. Now since you have another card in the system now, can you boot the system with both cards, the GeForce 7600 and GeForce 8800 GT? If so than you can flash your GeForce 8800 GT back to the original BIOS by booting from a bootable Ms-DOS media. You will just have to indicate the right card, meaning right slot. So I would suggest the GeForce 8800 GT is in the second PCI Express slot?

Re:Inno3D GeForce 8800 GT, some help as death after flashing!? - 2008/03/25 14:58Well, I just ordered a new card, and mailed the broken one to a friend, he is gonna try fixing it. Maybe I should run to the post office and get it back and give it a try.

So really you should have had soem more patience and give us time to wake up and provide us what could be done... Yeah I also need to sleep.

Re:Inno3D GeForce 8800 GT, some help as death after flashing!? - 2008/10/22 11:22Hi guys, I've got the same card and same issue. The only difference is I aquired this card in this state so I don't know exactly whats been done to it before that. Basically the card powers on the fan but in a system where this is the only video the system fails post. I have tried this in one of my XPC's and the system will boot but using the onboard graphics card. Just to rule out some of the first questions I guess you would ask, I have tried these systems with other GeForce 8800 GT cards I have and they are fine with those cards hopefully ruling out any power issues. Also I have managed to boot to DOS and run nvFlash but it only lists the onboard video card not the Inno3D GeForce 8800 GT. I guess my question is if the card is unrecoverably dead and I should just bin it? Any thoughts?

Okay good, so at least you can start a system with an onboard graphics card, but when checking it doesn't list the GeForce 8800 GT card at all. That is a bit annoying, but what we need to know is which index the onboard card has. So can you try the below command?
nvFlash v5.xx Commands... "nvflash --list" (List Adapters in System)

Re:Inno3D GeForce 8800 GT, some help as death after flashing!? - 2008/10/23 14:21I've managed to get hold of a Matrox PCI card now also, here is the listing output from the machine with the onboard graphics card. When I use the Matrox card with the GeForce 8800 GT it doesn't list any adapters, meaning no NVIDIA display adapters found.
Presence of Display Adapters... <0> NVIDIA nForce 630a (10DE,053B,10DE,CB84)
I should qualify the above statement, obviously they both show listings with the dead GeForce 8800 GT card in the PCI Express bus. By the way, thanks for the fast response, I really wasn't expecting a reply that quickly.

Mmm, that is less good cause it doesn't even show the GeForce 8800 GT card and that is not really good. So the only thing we could try is somehow try and force some flashing but of that will work isn't sure. But we know now the index stuff when using the onboard graphics card system.
Also I want to add that Intel chipset based mainboard often are better with card that seems death to get recognized. So I don't know if somehow vai some friends you would have the possibility to try the card on an Intel based mainboard that might be able to recognize the card and also flash it directly?

Re:Inno3D GeForce 8800 GT, some help as death after flashing!? - 2008/10/23 22:57Okay, I have tried the command that you have listed but it fails saying invalid adapter index specified. I can ask around see who has an Intel chipset although I have a suspician this card is death.

Well we have seen already some that didn't want to work at all but with an Intel chipset based mainboard it was getting recognized and could be flashed and restored. Now I wouldn't say it is death like that as it could be the card hasn't got a BIOS and that is far less easy to revive...
