Flashed GeForce 8800 GTX to Quadro FX4600, won't install? - 2008/03/24 02:39 I flashed my GeForce 8800 GTX to a Quadro FX4600 BIOS hoping to get better CAD performance. The flash seemed to go well. I am able to boot into Windows just fine, however when I try to install the Quadro drivers it tells me it cannot find a device appropriate for the drivers. Any help?

nvFlash v5.xx Commands...
"nvflash -4 -5 -6 nvfx4600_768mb_bios.rom"

First I would say that the command you used is not something that would have worked as such in the old Ms DOS, so I am wondering from where you flashed the card? Normally you best use a bootable Ms DOS media and that would only support non extended file naming, meaning max "8.3" naming. That means max 8 characters for the name and max 3 characters for the extension. Secondly I would suggest to look in Windows or a program what the device ID is after having it flashed...

nvFlash v5.xx Commands...
"nvflash -4 -5 -6 qfx4600.rom" (Forced BIOS Flash)

Re:Flashed GeForce 8800 GTX to Quadro FX4600, won't install? - 2008/03/24 13:40 I used a Ms DOS boot disk made in Windows Vista by formatting a floppy disk to boot. That is what I used as media to perform the flash of the graphics card.

Okay, well I guess that should do also but I never use the Vista stuff as it is already too much Windows close, and I am using the more Windows XP bootable or even Windows 98 way of getting a good plain old Ms-DOS bootable media. But I guess it should work fine, now you just have to check the device ID's as I believe something went wrong there and that is why it can't install the Quadro drivers.

Re:Flashed GeForce 8800 GTX to Quadro FX4600, won't install? - 2008/03/24 19:07 When I flashed it, I had to hit the yes three times to overwrite stuff. Not sure if that has anything do with it. How do I fix the device ID?

Mmm, normally you should just need to hit it once to confirm you really want to flash as you already used the forced flash method. How to fix the device ID, well first we need to know what it is and than we can see what can be done. You can't fix unless you know what to fix as maybe it is not that, but I the chance it great that that is exactly the issue.

Re:Flashed GeForce 8800 GTX to Quadro FX4600, won't install? - 2008/03/24 19:57 What is shows is device ID 10DE when checking with GPU-Z, and I am back to the GeForce 8800 GTX BIOS. Thanks for the help.

Thanks but I removed the image as it makes no sense at all due to the fact that is shows as being a GeForce 8800 GTX and the device ID and all other stuff is just as the GeForce 8800 GTX so from that it doesn't help at all. We need to know the device ID after you flashed it with the Quadro FX4600 BIOS, if else we can't do anything.

Re:Flashed GeForce 8800 GTX to Quadro FX4600, won't install? - 2008/05/25 10:21 Ouch sorry to here this buddy, but you did not need to flash the card. You could have software modded it with much less risk. This link has been doing the rounds with some success. But I for one would not do it, yet.

Re:Flashed GeForce 8800 GTX to Quadro FX4600, won't install? - 2008/06/05 13:04 I though you just needed to use RivaTuner and use the Quadro software modification script, using the low level system settings. And via this way you can force that RivaTuner is forcing the device ID to be a Quadro version which will allow you to install the Quadro drivers.
