ASUS P5W DH Deluxe, no beeping and not booting up at all? - 2008/03/20 07:32 Hi guys, I sold my old mainboard to a mate, before I took it out it was booting up and beeping if something is incorrect. Yesterday my mate came to my home, and we wanted to install Windows on his new rig. I put his rig together, but he disassembled it at home to drill some parts out of his tower and reassembled it afterwards. Now, we tried to start the computer, nothing happened. No beep error messages. Fans, hard disks all fine and booting up!

I heve tried to exchange the beeper, exchange the graphics card, exchange the memory, unplugged all drives, took out the additional PCI cards and I even tried it only with CPU mounted and one time without any hardware on... No beep, always the fans turning on. Even on/off over mainboard works, LED right bottom on mainboard lights up too... So all seems fine. by the way, I updated the BIOS to fit the Core 2 Quad Q6600 and it was already running with such a processor! I'll test the CPU today in another computer to see if its faulty.

Any ideas why it does not beep nor boot up? I don't care if it does not beep, but I want it to boot. I do not want my mate to think I am selling trash to him, as it was working before I sold it to him! Thanks in advance...

Oh, that is all good and well but shouldn't you also think about the de-assembling and re-assembling of your mate? And I don't want to offend anyone but unless you have been with him on what he has done, I wouldn't stick my hand in the fire for anyone to be absolutely sure they have done it as it should... It still remains PC hardware and can often with a wrong application be damaged. Next I would also try a clear CMOS action.
