Re:Possible overclock rates for ASUS GeForce FX5900 (V9950)? - 2008/02/22 08:56 Thank you for the information. I still got one question though. On every BIOS I found, the timings for Thrtl, 2D and 3D were the same, but on the NVIDIA Rev.03 BIOS , the 3D timings were different. What timings are better, though I guess I have to test it myself. Or could you at least explain the values for the timings? Is there a way to test the timings?

Re:Possible overclock rates for ASUS GeForce FX5900 (V9950)? - 2008/02/22 21:19 I wil start by saying, the same as you said, you will have to try yourself. I am sorry but if you back to how old this card is then it is just older even than this website as we started it only at around the time that the GeForce 5 series came to an end and the GeForce 6 series come into the picture. But it was the reason why we started the site. But what it was again about the timings, I would need too much again on how it was again and frankly speaking don't have the time to do so... But maybe someone else still recalls?

Re:Possible overclock rates for ASUS GeForce FX5900 (V9950)? - 2008/02/22 23:59 Thank you for your answer. I overclocked the GPU with PowerStrip and got 502/1005MHz running fine. I played World o Warcraft and the temperature went up to 64°C, not much either like 54°C in idle mode. I can probably overclock it more, but 500/1000MHz was the beginning of the yellow area at PowerStrip. Would be nice if someone has information about timings. Am I able to test the given timings via NiBiTor?

Re:Possible overclock rates for ASUS GeForce FX5900 (V9950)? - 2008/02/23 09:55 That is not bad at all and I wouldn't really care soi much about the timings as you won't gain much more performance out of it. Secondly you can't test the timings as that feature we introduced only later on when NVIDIA started to use the actual memory timings in their BIOS files.

Re:Possible overclock rates for ASUS GeForce FX5900 (V9950)? - 2008/02/23 10:34 Thank you. Then I'll stick with my NVIDIA GeForce FX5950 Ultra Rev.02 BIOS. Mmm, I used the Rev.03 BIOS which seems to be even better for overclocking, though I am still testing, but running first tests at 523/1045MHz... Okay, I switched back to Rev.02 with 500/1000MHz as Rev.03 had some display errors and lastly crashed my computer while booting after reinstalling the graphics card driver and while installing the graphics card driver. Or should have tried to reinstall DirectX after flashing the BIOS and graphics card driver?

Re:Possible overclock rates for ASUS GeForce FX5900 (V9950)? - 2008/02/29 23:03 Well as mentioned if a BIOS works fine, I would stick with it... And no normally you don't need to re-install drivers, but well it somehow adviced to reduce any issues. But I think in your case the best BIOS is the Rev.02 and I would stick with that one if the other one gives display errors, as that is not caused by the drivers.
