GeForce 8800 GTX or GTS 512MB, got dilemma and cold bug? - 2008/02/25 20:46 Hello, I have already read many reviews about the GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB and the GeForce 8800 GTX cards but I really hesitate, I play at 2560x1600 with anti-aliasing at 4X and anisotropic filtering at 16X. In terms of texturing, the GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB is more powerful and is 65nm. But the GeForce 8800 GTX has more memory and a 384-bit bus interface, which is better than the 256-bit memory bus of the G92 series.

I intend to overclock the card with a Mach II GT so that the GeForce 8800 GTS may overclock better thanks to the 65nm technology. In terms of price, I found the GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB at €250 and the GeForce 8800 GTX at €300. And I intend to keep the card up the end of the year. So what is your opinion ? And since I will cool the card with a Mach II GT, does the cold bug exist on GeForce 8 series? Thanks.

Re:GeForce 8800 GTX or GTS 512MB, got dilemma and cold bug? - 2008/02/25 23:09 Good thinking mate, well I don't know if this will help, but I am actually using a GeForce 8800 Ultra from Point of View currently and I find it better than the GeForce 8800 GT. Okay that is not exactly what you had in mind, but is is close. What you need to know is that the GeForce 8800 GTX is actually already finished at NVIDIA and the only GTX version you will find it clean up of stock cards. Now, my question is why would you only keep it till end of the year? In that case I would just go for the GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB edition, which will allow much greater overclocking.
