Upgrading laptop graphics, GeForce 8 series can be done? - 2008/02/14 20:41 Some time ago I upgraded my Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop graphics card from it's ATI Radeon X1400 to a GeForce 7950 GTX 512MB and what a difference. My question is will I be able to further upgrade this unit with a GeForce 8 series or even GeForce 9 series card as they become available. Or is this about as high-end as this can go and I'm getting a new notebook soon?

The main point is the MXM module that is actually replaced in the notebook and you have several versions, like MXM-I and MXM-II which are not interchangeable. So really it depends a bit so you better see to check with Dell support first what would be feasible.
