Re:ASUS Extreme AX1650 PRO AGP, facing problem with drivers? - 2008/01/26 17:42You should try to uninstall everything of the MS framework, uninstall everything regarding ASUS or ATI, then use the DriverCleaner 1.5 Power Edition and clean everything regarding ATI... And don't forget to reboot. After that, reinstall the Catalyst 8.1 since it is the newest. But I'm glad, that the flashing worked for you. The other issues will soon be solved if not, you should try to reinstall the whole Windows and install the Catalyst from scratch.
Looks like ASUS causes his/her users major problem due to these dumb bridged adapter... It would be interesting to know what solved the issue. Was it the newer version of the tool or the reason, that he used the Windows XP bootable floppy disk? Which bootable files are you using on your USB stick? It looks like you also have a similar card like I have, so probably the "-atmel" switch is right for you. Maybe you could try to use some other versions of ATFlash.

Re:ASUS Extreme AX1650 PRO AGP, facing problem with drivers? - 2008/01/26 20:09After a lot of installations and reboots, after testing several combinations of drivers with 3DMark06, I think that the best solution for my current PC is the Omega 7.12 drivers. They have a lot of tweaking and overclocking utilities and it works great on my system. I scored 1960 points with the WarCat 7.12 drivers and 2050 points with the Omega 7.12 drivers due to some GPU tweaking. I set the clocks at 620/900MHz just to see how it goes without risking serious damage and it seems that it's okay so far...
Now, Tangy dude don't give up, there is nothing to go wrong if you follow our steps. Keep on trying, we will be here to give you whatever you need. And Drago, what about overclocking the Radeon X1650 card that we flashed? I'm not an expert on overclocking but the amount of overclocking I did is small and had results... Take care guys.

Re:ASUS Extreme AX1650 PRO AGP, facing problem with drivers? - 2008/01/27 00:47Well... You can overclock a card until you get fragments on your screen then you should set lower clock speeds. I don't even know which RAM chips, how many ns are on this card since I haven't considered it for overclocking, yet. With ATITool you have an automated clocking mechanism, let it run for an hour then you will get the ideal clocks for your card...

Re:ASUS Extreme AX1650 PRO AGP, facing problem with drivers? - 2008/01/27 10:33Great stuff guys, but I have done some clean up cause some posts are so strange to read and not really sentences that I couldn't stand it anymore. Sorry for that if you don't like that, but we want a professional view for our forums and I guess I can do what I want in the end. But the thread is very well going with excellent information and details, and giving everything it needs as information and therefore I am very glad to have such knowledgeable persons sharing their view and thoughts. So thanks for that!
Now concerning the overclocking of the Radeon X1650 PRO from ASUS you need to take into account that it comes with DDR2 memory and even the highest rated DDR2 can only reach about 1000MHz. Now the core normally is running at 590MHz so the 620MHz you are running now is already a nice overclock, but maybe it can do even more. The best way indeed is to use ATITool and use the function to find the max core and memory clock speed, and to watch for artifacts while doing so.

Re:ASUS Extreme AX1650 PRO AGP, facing problem with drivers? - 2008/01/28 21:30Now I have tried different DOS versions and different ATIFlash versions with different commands. The result is always the same. I can not flash. Maybe anyone have an idea what I can try. Maybe there are jumpers on the card which make the flash write protected? I have tried also FreeDOS from a bootable CD and have used ATIFlash from hard disk. I have also tried ATIWinFlash. But this application hang on startup. The best idea which I have now is to buy a new video card, which is more stable and where I can install the newest driver...

The cause of the hanging ATIWinFlash is again the bridged version of the ASUS Radeon AX1650 PRO. And, unfortunately there aren't any jumpers on the board. I've another idea, but you can really mess up your card by doing that. If you want to risk that, try the following command with ATIFlash v3.49... "atiflash -p -f 1 a_s1600p.rom -atmel"
Then ATIFlash should now report asic not idle after write enable. After that, don't turn off your computer and try the command, you can try it with v3.49, but I think you need v3.25 after that... "atiflash -p -f 0 a_s1600p.rom -atmel"
Please note, if you risk that the chance is rather good, that you can't flash your graphics adapter anymore and that you are forced to turn off your computer without flashing your graphics, and your card doesn't work anymore. It's up to you, if you want to try that...

Well I think the best idea is indeed what you mentioned, get something else cause as far as I can see this card is just crap and you spend already enough time and effort into this and it is really a waste. I wouldn't even try the proposed last method, cause I would first try to get my money back from ASUS due to the crappy card...

Nope, this is an English spoken forums and if you start translating or adding post in other languages then the swift action will be that those posts will just get deleted. There are enough translators available in the internet and secondly it is a good thing to learn English while doing.
