PowerColor Radeon X1650 problem, display out of range? - 2007/06/04 22:10 Hi, I have a problem with my PowerColor Radeon X1650 256MB AGP card. The problem is that my monitor goes out of range after 10 minutes sometime 5 minutes. Sometimes I get a blue screen when I shutdown my PC. I have tested the card in a other PC and everything runs fine. I have tried different drivers but it didn't help. I think it's a compatibility problem with my motherboard or something like that. Windows XP same problems by the way.

System Specifications...
- ASUS A8V Deluxe Mainboard
- AMD Athlon 3800+ S939 Processor
- Unknown 1GB Memory
- Cooler Master 430W Power Supply

I can't return it to shop because I'm to late and they won't change it for other card because it's works fine on other systems. I hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance.

Re:PowerColor Radeon X1650 problem, display out of range? - 2007/06/04 23:01 And in what kind of PC was it used? Cause it is nice to have yoru specifications but what about the PC it was working just fine? Cause if you want to get to the bottom of things then you need to know on what hardware it worked just fine... This can be anything, the mainboard, memory, power supply, monitor...

Re:PowerColor Radeon X1650 problem, display out of range? - 2007/06/05 10:15 Well they have tested in the shop, don't know the system they have there. And I have tested myself in an ASRock Socket A motherboard with the same memory and power supply. On my ASUS motherboard I changed the AGP between 8x and 4x but no result. I have an old ATI Radeon 7500, and with this card it runs fine. I bought the Radeon X1650 to replace my GeForce 6800 GT 128MB, because it was dead. Well is there some tool I can test my memory and mottherboard for errors? Thanks for your help.

Re:PowerColor Radeon X1650 problem, display out of range? - 2008/01/14 22:31 My graphics card works fine now, on other mainboard but there is some thing wrong as I can't run 3DMark06. If I click on run I get the following errror IDirect3D9 create device failed. So I checked DXDiag and it gives a error about the hardware accelerator. How can I solve this problem? Thanks in advance.

Re:PowerColor Radeon X1650 problem, display out of range? - 2008/01/15 11:58 Well this is not really a problem of the card anymore, so your Radeon X1650 is not having problems at all but this is linked to 3DMark06. You should disable the hardware check of 3DMark06 and I think it will work then. I think I had something similar some time ago...

Re:PowerColor Radeon X1650 problem, display out of range? - 2008/01/15 18:23 Where can I disable the hardware check in 3DMark06? Tomorrow I will check the card at work to see if 3DMark06 works. Thanks.

Well in the shortcut of 3DMark06 you should add at the end the extra parameter "-nosysteminfo". This will prevent the benchmark to do a system info check. This is required if you have some newer card as well, and it does start the benchmark a lot faster.

Re:PowerColor Radeon X1650 problem, display out of range? - 2008/01/16 20:08 I have renamed the shortcut to for 3DMark06 with the extra paramter. I still have the same problem, and it is the same with 3DMark03 and 3DMark05. It's nice trick, but I go to test the card and let you know the result of it.

Well if that didn't work then it must be something else, and then it could be something with the drivers or DirectX that is not fully functioning as it should. But really to find out what will take more time then simply removing it all and re-installing it all or even a full re-install of the operating system.

Re:PowerColor Radeon X1650 problem, display out of range? - 2008/01/18 19:29 If have checked the card at my work and got the same problem. So I send it back to the shop and let it repair. Probably they need to change the chip. Thanks for your help...
