Sparkle GeForce 8800 GTS, and what ways to try overclock? - 2008/01/15 16:51 Hello, I wanted to tweak my video card, on a safe way, so I tried nTune, but when I try it, it says that I have to install nForce first. I have heard that I than have to edit the BIOS of the card. Can someone help me with that, or give me a how to. Thank you for your help.

Re:Sparkle GeForce 8800 GTS, and what ways to try overclock? - 2008/01/15 17:46 Well that is just nTune which is really not the best tool to use for overclocking as it is rather limited to when you are using NVIDIA hardware. So for you to overclock via software which is the safest way is using RivaTuner, ATITool or PowerStrip to see how good the card can be overclocked. And if that works fine then you copuld do a more permanent update to overclock via the BIOS.

Re:Sparkle GeForce 8800 GTS, and what ways to try overclock? - 2008/01/15 19:27 Thank you for your help. I did not know that this tool is such a crap. So I would like to try one of these tools, but can you tell me, which tool of these can automatic search for the best setting? I don't want to install all three. Thank you for your fast reply.

Okay, well in that case I would recommend to use ATITool which has the ablity to find the max core and max memory speed and has an artifact scanner on top. But keep in mind to look as well while doing this and to note down the clock speed as soon as you see yellow dots. These are the first signs of artifacts and that you should avoid, once you have both max speeds, and you deduct 5-10MHz and that should be your best overclocking setting.
