Re:GeForce 7300 GS, wrong BIOS flash and computer screwed? - 2007/12/29 02:29 Thanks, I have found two canidates. One of them has 14 pins altogether and its number is RT9218B and underneath is PS8JJ407. The other chip that has 8 pins around and the writing isn't very clear but I have read what is possible E2522. Sorry for not being very clear. It is an ASUS Extreme N7300 GS PCI Express. I also do not think I can use tweezers, it seems like the pins are welded on.

Okay, so I think it is either MP2505 or MP2510, so can you double check? Of course they are, you have to use something conducting like a wire, and just connect the 2 pins while booting. And don't touch any other pin or component while doing so. Its not easy but noone said it was.

Re:GeForce 7300 GS, wrong BIOS flash and computer screwed? - 2007/12/29 11:29 Okay, I know I may sound dumb but which two pins should I wire together. The chip you are refering to is the one with the 8 pins around it right? The only numbers I make out clearly is E2522 and 358 written on top of it. Thanks for your patience with me and I am truly grateful as I am going into my last year at school and not allowed to buy a new graphics card for the year because of my father. I really want to start playing the Half-Life 2: Episode 2 and Team Fortress. Thanks again, I can't live one year with an integrated Intel graphics card!

Read the thread I linked, you need to find the EEPROM, then Google its datasheet and connect the CS and GND pin. But first you need to find the chip. Are you sure there isn't any other 8 pin chips? Do you have close up photos of the card?

Re:GeForce 7300 GS, wrong BIOS flash and computer screwed? - 2007/12/29 11:57 Hi, have you tried booting with a PCI video card? Before you proceed with anything on hardware which is dangerous, try finding an old PCI card and boot the PC with it first. Make sure you the primary VGA is set to PCI and not PCI Express in the BIOS. Then proceed with flashing the original BIOS. I suspect your serial flash is located under the heatsink. That's why you couldn't find it.

nvFlash v5.xx Commands...
"nvflash -a" (Detection of NVIDIA Graphics Card)
"nvflash -4 -5 -6 backup.rom" (Flash of Backup BIOS)

Re:GeForce 7300 GS, wrong BIOS flash and computer screwed? - 2007/12/29 12:14 Hey all. I found this under the heatsink which has also 8 pins. Could this be the serial number of the flash 25LV512? Typed it into Google and it popped up results, clicked on the first few links and it didn't have any PDF documents for download. So what now? Thanks all you guys for helping me out.

Re:GeForce 7300 GS, wrong BIOS flash and computer screwed? - 2007/12/29 12:29 If it's located under the heatsink then it's hard for you to use tweezer method. I strongly suggest you find an old PCI video card first. The tweezer method is only for last resort and you may need to attach smaller heatsink to do this or you'll burn the GPU chip.

Yes this is it. When you Google for datasheet 25LV512 you get quite some results and the datasheet in question. In the datasheet you see a drawing of the chip with the pin names, the important ones are Chip select and GND.

Re:GeForce 7300 GS, wrong BIOS flash and computer screwed? - 2007/12/29 13:04 So this would be it? And the pin would be S#, indicated with a 1? So what do I do now? Thanks for being patient with me. I am sorta new to this physical tweaking.

Re:GeForce 7300 GS, wrong BIOS flash and computer screwed? - 2007/12/29 16:11 Yes S# is the chipselect (CS) pin and VSS is GND. As you can see from the previous link I have posted, aze2lear has done this before and described in the thread I linked. So check that as well.
