GeForce 6150 SE, slower than older GeForce FX5200 card? - 2007/12/28 07:10
I need a bit of help about choosing. Sorry if it is a really obvious choice to you, kind of like choosing between a Toyota and a Porsche but I have no idea which one is better and why... Could any one help me out? It is mainly for running Windows Vista, not too graphically intensive games and regular stuff like going on the web, etc. I had a computer with the GeForce FX5200 on it and I ran Counter-Strike: Source at about 130 fps on a specific part of a specific map.
Today, I bought myself a new computer that had this GeForce 6150 SE on it, but on the very same part of the very same map, I only hit about 35 fps... So I'm asking myself is it the GeForce FX5200 better than the GeForce 6150 SE? Or maybe I should check my GeForce 6150 SE's drivers? Also, if there are any gamers, how can I tweak my graphical settings on Counter-Strike: Source without loosing much quality so that my frame rates are even better? I heard about water reflections and smoother shadows but I'm not sure and I don't want to screw up with anything so I need your advice... Thanks a lot!
