Re:Sapphire Radeon X1650 (RV530), some BIOS help wanted? - 2007/11/27 20:43 Well, I'm receiving the card later this week, so I haven't tested yet. So, you're saying that if I can up the core from 590MHz to 600MHz through software without artifacts I should be good to go? Also, another thing about memory that's confusing me, when I see the Radeon X1650 PRO's listed they always mention a double memory clock. Meaning 700MHz memory on a PRO listed as 1400MHz memory speed, but for a regular Radeon X1650, for example the one that I bought is just listed as 800MHz.

Does that mean that the memory of a Radeon X1650 runs by default at just 800MHz, or is that x2 as well on a non PRO? And if it is indeed only 800MHz meaning 2x 400MHz, would I be able to reach double clocks, so 1400MHz using the PRO BIOS on my regular Radeon X1650? And, if that is possible, would I require more cooling on the memory than a Radeon X1650 PRO would require?

Re:Sapphire Radeon X1650 (RV530), some BIOS help wanted? - 2007/12/09 19:42 Well normally on the package it should always list the real speed, meaning the dual channel speed. Now I believe on the Radeon X1650 it used only DDR2 memory which runs at about 800MHz and can be overclocked to 900MHz. Now the PRO version would have GDDR3 memory running at 1400MHz which should overclock to about 1600MHz, so never flash the BIOS from the PRO to a non PRO version as the card will not work at all. The memory needs to be same type...

Re:Sapphire Radeon X1650 (RV530), some BIOS help wanted? - 2007/12/09 22:32 I have a Radeon X1650 PRO 512MB DDR2 and overclocked it to 655/931MHz from 594/796MHz, and I want to flash my BIOS to overclock the memory, because it defaults to 796MHz, but Catalyst Control Center won't let me set it that high and I can't get ATI Tray Tols or RivaTuner to work right.

Well then the only way to get that done is to tweak your original BIOS of your Radeon X1650 PRO and put the memory to the clock speed that you want... Once done flash your card with that updated BIOS.

Re:Sapphire Radeon X1650 (RV530), some BIOS help wanted? - 2007/12/11 02:38 I tried using RaBiT and it kept quitting itself and making me restart it and all it could do was read the clocks. It gave a popup stating RaBiT has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Do you want to notify Microsoft of this error. Which BIOS version should I edit? A copy of the backup one I made?

Re:Sapphire Radeon X1650 (RV530), some BIOS help wanted? - 2007/12/11 10:20 Well it should work normally, and you need to use your own original BIOS of your graphics card to make the update and flash your card with.

Where is the original one, the one I made a copy of onto a floppy using ATIFlash? Or can it be found elsewhere?

The original BIOS is the backup you took with ATIFlash as that is the only way to save a copy. If you haven't done that then you don't have a copy of it... Best would also to share that backup BIOS file with us so that we have a copy as well.

Re:Sapphire Radeon X1650 (RV530), some BIOS help wanted? - 2007/12/16 02:54 Well I am using the newest RaBiT, and it lets me open the BIOS, but I can't change anything but the fan speeds settings. Is this a common problem? And do you know how to fix it?

Well share your BIOS so we can have a look at it... And no it is not a common problem as I have just checked another Radeon X1650 BIOS and I can change whatever with RaBiT... So we really do need the original BIOS of your card to be able to check it, and is it an AGP or PCI Express card that you got?
