GeForce 8800 GT with crappy memory, and updating timings? - 2007/12/16 11:40 I have an XFX GeForce 8800GT 512MB stock clocks 600/1800MHz and shader of 1500MHz. Running stable at 756/1856MHz and shader of 1890MHz with BIOS extra voltage set to 1.1V. I thought it was stable at 774MHz but I got a lockup once so I guess its not. Before the voltage change it was stable at 728/1856MHz and shader of 1836MHz.

Memory won't go any higher. If I try any higher I get red ribbon thingie artifacts all over the screen followed by a hardlock after 10 seconds of artifacts. Measured the memory voltage with a multimeter and it showed 2.0V. I tried a pencil voltage modification and raised the voltage to 2.1V and I was getting instand hardware locking with no artifacts at all when testing higher clocks. I removed the pencil tweak. Would setting looser timings help? Anyone tried it? Or is it better to leave the timings as they are?

Re:GeForce 8800 GT with crappy memory, and updating timings? - 2007/12/16 12:48 Well I think there is nothing more you can do with the memory cause you are using that standard memory timings which can do easily 1900-200MHz. So relaxing these would not make a difference at all as you can't reach with the normal timing not even 1900MHz which should be easy reachable without changing anything.
